Cozumel Review: One Day at Port Driving Around Cozumel

Cozumel Review: One Day at Port Driving Around Cozumel | The Joy of Mexico | Scoop.it

I recently had the opportunity to spend an entire day at port in Cozumel. This is definitely a popular cruise location, and I had the chance to see why as I drove around the entire island and explored a few little great places along the way.

The Ancient Maya City of Tulum, Mexico

The Ancient Maya City of Tulum, Mexico | The Joy of Mexico | Scoop.it

Tulum – one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya civilization of Mexico. Today visitors can see the well-perserved buildings and wander about the grounds, imagining what it was like to live there during its heyday, back in the 13th and 15th centuries. If you’re headed down to Mexican state of Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean Coast of Mexico, Tulum is a must-see!

The Power and The Glory: Chiapas and Tabasco

The Power and The Glory: Chiapas and Tabasco | The Joy of Mexico | Scoop.it

“More than 70 years ago, all churches in Tabasco and most in Chiapas were closed and Christians were persecuted. As I visit people here now, some of the images and phrases of that era that echo in my mind are those of the British writer Graham Greene. He travelled mostly on foot and by mule through communities that made global headlines in the 1990s as sites of massacres and repression. He wrote a journal of the voyage, published in 1939 as The Lawless Roads.”

Casa Mexilio – Capucine - A classic colonial oasis in the heart of Merida, Yucatan

Casa Mexilio – Capucine - A classic colonial oasis in the heart of Merida, Yucatan | The Joy of Mexico | Scoop.it

Monet’s relation with nasturtium begins in the year 1872, during the first ‘’Impressionists exhibition’’ in Nadar’s work-shop, situated ‘’boulevard… des Capucines’’ (Nasturtium’s boulevard) ! This orange corolla standing out against a light green foliage has then become one of the artist’s preferred flowers, who offered it a predominant situation in the central lane of the ‘’Clos Normand’’. In his book « Giverny along the seasons »,...

Riviera Maya: The softer side of Mexico

Riviera Maya: The softer side of Mexico | The Joy of Mexico | Scoop.it

“Rid yourself of the image that Mexico is all bikini-clad, beer-bong beach parties and imagine a place filled with mangrove trees, tropical forests, lagoons and sand dunes that stretch all the way to the ocean. Mexico's tranquility is located only 45 minutes from the Cancun airport in Riviera Maya, home to all-inclusive resorts and luxury developments, biospheres, eco-facilities and, of course, some of the best water activities.”
