What Teachers Really Think About Game Based Learning

What Teachers Really Think About Game Based Learning | Metodologías competenciales | Scoop.it

WeAreTeachers, an educational resource website, have released the results of a survey of 309 K–12 classroom teachers from public, private and religious schools across the country about their views on game based learning. We thought the results were very interesting, especially the statement ’81% of teachers feel students are more engaged when they are playing games’.

I think the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy is wrong. I agree that the taxonomy accurately classifies various types of cognitive thinking skills. It certainly identifies the different levels of complexity. But its organizing framework is dead wrong.

EDUCAUSE Review Online
Ignacio Sáenz de Miera's insight:

Very interesting reflexion about the place of curriculum centered instructional practices. It seem formal learning is, actually, needed of a "recentered" revision.

I underline two visions

"We must move from margin to center..." and "

The learning we are coming to value most is not always where we are putting our greatest interest and effort in assessment, including the emerging discussions about “learning analytics.” To be sure, we should work very hard and carefully to align, document, and capture our current assessments of student learning; at the same time, we should be attentive and ambitious in figuring out how we want to cultivate and evaluate learning in this expansive environment."
