Once again, a perfect illustration of focusing on the "outcome" instead of "how" work gets done.  This certainly requires a great deal of trust and in certain creative environments I believe this can work very well.  The challenge is evaluating if the company fits the profile conducive to this kind of cultural freedom.  I dare say, most companies lack the maturity to accept this arrangement.

Technology is a great aid in communications but there are some pitfalls you need to avoid to remain effective in your communication.

I'm seeing four basic methods of communication in the workplace.  Instant message, Email, Phone/Text, In Person.  I believe over using the first three can destroy corporate culture when they are the primary means used for communication...especially for those that work from home.  Nothing substitutes the old fashion face to face meeting.
