Le “Premier Festival de Science-Fiction Virtuel Avant Après La Fin Du Monde” est le prolongement dématérialisé dans le cyberespace du "Festival de la Science Fiction et de l’imaginaire de Roanne" fondé il y a trente ans par Jo Taboulet.
La réalisation de ses différentes versions numériques est le fruit d’un travail collectif qui rassemble artistes, builders, concepteur son et fondus de technologies des réseaux.
Les différentes versions numériques du festival présentent des travaux d'artistes et d'auteurs de science-fiction, des romans et nouvelles de SF en ligne, des documentaires et entretiens avec des auteurs notoires de la science fiction francophone.
“Le Festival est conçu pour être traversé de part en part. La coupole centrale est un lieu de chinage, assez similaire à ce qu’on l’on pourrait trouver en IRL avec des stands pour les auteurs et une série des galeries d’artistes attenantes. A l’extérieur on évolue par un dédale de passerelles en suspension qui amènent le visiteur vers les niveaux supérieurs des galeries, On peut également atteindre les niveaux inférieurs de la ville par les passerelles descendantes pour aller se perdre dans d’obscurs lacets jusqu’à la grotte …”

Immersive Edge is the first of its kind. A blend in perfect harmony of storytelling and the virtual world into one cohesive nine chapter experience. Interactive, Innovative and captivating.

The story carries you, the visuals immerse you and you, the visitor choose one of three different endings. The story is simple, yet compelling. Meeting as text on a digital page. An ocean between them assurance that they could be who they wished they were in their lover's eyes. Love's illusions fashioned in ones and zeroes texted across the transatlantic cable. No warning that the god-helmets they experimented with would fuse their consciousness to digital bodies, thrust them through a portal, plunge them into unreal realities. Now they are on a journey to find home and themselves. But as they progress through different avatars and evolve into evermore unique cyber beings, the desire to live in their ordinary mortal skin diminishes. As they overcome obstacles and face challenges they fall more deeply in love. The fear their lover will reject the imperfect human they are grows. To survive and return home they must embrace those imperfections. At the end of the journey readers must choose the destiny for the pair.

The third annual Summer of Arts 2015 virtual arts event begins on September 25.

Metropolis Grid hosts this event to give cyber artists an opportunity to display their works to a wide audience. The art displayed ranges from audio-visual installations and theater projects to paintings and cyberart objects.

A special thanks should be given to Oddball Otoole for creating the 20’s themed scenarios for the two Summer of Arts regions.

After the opening on the 25th, the exhibition will host live performances from musicians and poetic readings in both English and German. Summer of Arts 2015 will run from September 25 until October 31, 2015.

“The Metaverse does not ask about borders, it is a place for everyone, with all our differences,” said FrancoGrid’s Praline Barjowski, in a statement. “This type of event is the best way to connect with each other. And cultural events are the best link we can share.”

The Project started 2012. At the beginning she created a group to exchange knowledge and experience about the 3D modelling tool "Blender". Some experienced people met and the idea was to give the knowledge to others. That was the birth of "Anette's Schule".
The METROPOLIS TEAM made the approach to her to open the school officially. This laid the foundation of the "METROPOLIS Academy". After four years existence Metropolis experienced what knowledge had been needed:
Transferring knowledge and know how in the use of tools and technics to other residents.
The courses are free of charge and include themes like: Creating sculpties and MESHes using "Blender", Texturize with "Gimp", LINUX for beginners, How to start an own region with Open Sim technologies, HTML and PHP Courses. To have an overview about all of them see:

A metaverse-wide storytelling effort

This Saturday and  Sunday, Nara’s Nook grid invites the public to see a series of presentations and experience “Immersive Edge,” a hypergrid story and adventure game in OpenSim.

A few months ago, this niche author-focused grid created a story sequencing tool and distributed it to authors and artists from around the metaverse.

With just a couple of minutes of explanation, with with no tech skills they went on to script their scenes on their own.

The story sequencers and additions to Ferd’s NPC controller and Aine’s PMAC system make it possible for everyday users of OpenSim to put on things like a dance show or a full play using only NPCs. It can even be done so an NPC will rez and start the show for a visitor on arrival.

3rd Rock Grid is proud to announce the hand-over of its management to the Stichting 3rd Rock Grid Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation registered in the Netherlands. The foundation’s six-member board of unpaid directors, comprised of involved citizens, includes previous owners, together with dedicated volunteers.

“This will guarantee a bright future for the friendly community grid,” said Tara Dockery, 3rd Rock Grid board member. She is also known as Thoria Millgrove in-world.

BASMOCA is a Metaverse, based on Virtual Worlds Technology, in which people interact in a 3D cyberspace that uses the metaphor of the real world but without its physical limitations.

It is a museum, but so much more than that; it is a place where people anywhere in the world can come together, in Avatar form, to look at art and exchange ideas and information, in a real life setting, regardless of age, gender, ethnic, cultural or socio-economic identities.

In a time of myriad barriers and boundaries, virtual worlds are a tool with which to disseminate art and culture. BASMOCA uses cutting-edge technology to bring a contemporary art collection into the minds and the lives of as many people as are interested and inspired to explore this new space.

To augment people’s physical wants with such virtual riches is a way for us to discover what we really need, what feeds our hearts and our minds. If we want to look at and think about art, and for that experience to be as real as possible but without the difficulties imposed by time and geographical location, we can now do so. This is a new place to be, a revolutionary mode of thought and existence,  that frees us from our everyday limitations.

The BASMOCA virtual gallery is a pioneering example of using this technology, efficiently and effectively, to disseminate art and culture. It is the only Virtual Gallery of its kind to showcase a real-life collection.

BASMOCA’s vision is to create a virtual private museum, representing the reality of Basma Al Sulaiman’s private collection, to which everyone around the world has access from anywhere, at any time.

Alongside the permanent collection of contemporary artworks that Basma has carefully gathered over the past decades, BASMOCA promotes as well young, emerging artists from Saudi and the Middle East.

BASMOCA is a global forum in which a unique crossover from East to West can take place, a virtual, yet very real,
BASMOCA’s mission is to break down these barriers, allow people to explore different art and cultures, discover new artists and ideas, whilst experiencing a real collection in an interactive way.

Summer of Arts 2015, the virtual arts event! This Exhibition is hosted every third year by the Metropolis grid. Summer of Arts is a great opportunity for all Cyber artists to present their works to a broad public. The Summer of Arts is a mix of all forms of art - from theater projects to audio-visual installations to photographical objects, paintings and Cyberart objects.

At the 25th of September 2015 the exhibition will be opened to the public with a Grand Opening. The Expo will then run until the end of October 2015, accessible to all.

The exhibition area consists of 2 regions: an urban scenario with more than 100 galleries and showrooms, as well as an open space for large objects. A big Thanks to Oddball Otoole for creating this impressive 20s scenario for us.

"...The number of registered users increased by 9,286 to 433,179, with InWorldz bringing in the most new registrations at 1,754, followed by Kitely with 1,409, Avination with 584 and YrGrid with 557. YrGrid, a gambling-themed grid, launched earlier this year with a Bitcoin-based in-world currency. Three of these grids are not hypergrid enabled, showing that closed commercial grids are still doing a better job of marketing to new users, and should be lauded for helping bring people to OpenSim.

However, because the total number of hypergrid-enabled grids has been increasing dramatically, the total number of active users on the hypergrid continues to pull away from the number of users on the closed grids..."

Beyond the beauty of its architecture and the treasures it contains, the MdM will be a workshop, a breeding ground for new ideas, a place where, using to internet in all its various forms, exhibitions and events can reach the physical world and be seen to their best advantage. All the various working parts, from the architecture and artwork, to the performances, the events, the staff and artists, come together to form a single conceptual work, both immersive and performative, with which we aim to mirror the very best of the physical world.

As the technology that underpins virtual reality develops and the experiences become increasingly more real, I've been pondering a particularly morbid thought: When will we have the first VR-induced death? Will a realistic rocket launcher blast in Team Fortress 2 or VR version of Silent Hill give you a heart attack? Will a a VR experience be so realistic that you get so swept up in the moment that you run into a wall or jump out a window?

Le Ministère de la Culture a réalisé avec Creative Commons France, une petite vidéo qui vous permettra de comprendre exactement comment fonctionnent les licences CC. Du coup, si les licences ouvertes ne sont pas très claires pour vous, je vous invite à regarder ce petit clip. Autrement, même si vous êtes un barbu de la licence, c'est toujours bon à avoir sous la main pour montrer à vos amis ou votre famille qui est peu ou pas familier avec ce concept.
