The most significant finding was the dramatic 600% increase in malicious web links worldwide, led a 720% increase in North America and an uptick of 531% in the EMEA region. This increased volume is likely attributed to a fragmentation of attacks, according to Charles Renert, VP of research and development for Websense Labs, the research arm of the data security provider. He told Infosecurity that attacks are now being distributed on a more diverse geographic basis, “and a widening of this net is of value to the attacker community”.

ENISA's new corporate 2013 video clip launched | Ciberseguridad + Inteligencia | Scoop.it
"Everything is connected"

ENISA has launched its new corporate video clip. This six-minutes movie describes the role of ENISA in a world where "everything is connected" both privately and professionaly. Communication technology  connects us to family, friends, banks, and other private and e-government services we all rely on. But the Internet is under constant threat, from crime, attacks and accidents. Spamhaus, Stuxnet, Flamer, High Roller  to name a few of the sophisticated cyber-attacks that took place the last 3 years.

It is the European Union Agency ENISA’s job to work with prevention at EU levels in the field of cyber security. ENISA is working with governments, regulators and industry to assess risks and identify practical solutions to keep business, citizens and economy secure.

This way, we support the smooth functioning of Europe’s internal market.

In The Security World, Android Is The New Windows | Ciberseguridad + Inteligencia | Scoop.it

Android is now the focus for security attacks and prevention — even if it doesn't get as much attention in this regard as Windows used to.

Ironically, as Android's secuirty issues grow, Windows is actually getting better. "Microsoft deserves kudos for making Windows more and more secure," Cobb said. And with the move to Windows 8, Microsoft is shifting toward a more closed, more secure model, specifically by by not allowing apps unless they are from a legitimate developer.

Plus, Windows' issues over the years have had the effect of training people to be more careful. "Someone who's been using Windows for the last 10 years is probably better protected than a Mac person," Cobb joked. "They've had to learn the hard way."
