Around 1932, John Sparks made a real-world chart for our actual historic civilizations for McNally, and it stood more than six feet tall!
This is a great historical illustration of the rise and fall of civilizations.
I suggest you supplement it with reading Ian Morris' excellent book: Why the West Rules - for Now: The Patterns of History, and What They Reveal About the Future.
