5 Journalism Techniques To Borrow For eLearning: The eLearning Coach

5 Journalism Techniques To Borrow For eLearning: The eLearning Coach | Meeting, Learning, and Collaboration | Scoop.it

Amazon Launches File Sharing And Collaboration Tool - Forbes

Amazon Launches File Sharing And Collaboration Tool - Forbes | Meeting, Learning, and Collaboration | Scoop.it

Finally the news that most commentators were expecting withAmazon Web Services’ (AWS) announcement that they’re taking on the not insignificant task of carving out a point of difference in the ultra-busy file sharing space. With companies like Box, Dropbox,Google and Microsoft MSFT +0.04% all lining up to push their own take of what solution users really need, it’s the turn of AWS to step up and announce Zocalo, their initial product. If nothing else it’s an interesting piece of news given that perhaps the best known player in the space, Dropbox, actually uses AWS to store its data – another example of AWS competing with its own ecosystem. First I’ll take a look at the product’s functionality and then give some broader thoughts.

Dow Day: a situated documentary - Mobile Learning Experiences

Dow Day: a situated documentary - Mobile Learning Experiences | Meeting, Learning, and Collaboration | Scoop.it

The Situated Documentary starts from the assumption that the sounds and the images of the world in which we live in hide a historical past that we can discover and explore with technology.

Being in the same place in which particular historical facts occurred and being able to live what there is no longer constitutes a very important experiential conquest of the documentary genre.

[mirmilla]

❝The Situated Documentary allows learners to experience the recreation of a real life event (…) Situated documentaries work in harmony with technology to interact with information and to experience the world in new ways.❞

[excerpt from Luiz Lopes video on Vimeo]

What technology is behind Dow Day?

❝ARIS, Short for Augmented Reality and Interactive Storytelling, is an authoring tool as well as an iPhone application that work together to create mobile, locative, narrative-centric, interactive experiences❞ [excerpt from David J. Gagnon manuscript (http://bit.ly/QeSRXk)]

or in other words:

❝ARIS is a user-friendly, open-source platform for creating and playing mobile games, tours and interactive stories. Using GPS and QR Codes, ARIS players experience a hybrid world of virtual interactive characters, items, and media placed in physical space.❞

[excerpt from the ARIS site]

Video editing apps: Pro results for ambitious amateurs | Meeting, Learning, and Collaboration | Scoop.it

With HD-resolution cameras now standard-issue items in smartphones, 4K-resolution cameras falling into consumers' hands and multi-core processing power standard issue on desktops and laptops, the need for video editing suites with high-end features has moved into the mainstream.

4K-resolution video (3840 x 2160 pixels), used by a growing number of consumer-level devices, is supported by all the products in this roundup.

However, not all of them support Redcode, the 4K video format generated by Red pro-level cameras.
