What a great post. There is something magical in storytelling, especially when people write about their passion
taniaATenthuse.me's curator insight, July 17, 2013 9:34 AM

This is the story of a brilliant entrepreneur, Leah Busque. She is passionate about her business, she lives and breathes it. And it shows.

What is your story ?

We all love to hear a good story… keep it human though…

No dogma. No jargon. No Multisyllabic arrogance.

+POOL: The World's First Floating Water-Filtering Aquatic Facility, NYC | Meet Green & Cheers! | Scoop.it

Born of the desire to swim in new york city's rivers, '+pool', the world's first floating water-filtering aquatic facility, will be the largest publicly funded civic project ever.

Three new yorkers have worked with international engineering and design firms such as ARUP to create '+pool', the world's first recreational floating aquatic filtering facility. The layered structure is designed to purify river water, over a half million gallons daily.

Composed of four sections forming the '+', the program is designed to accommodate everyone -- children and adults, athletes and bathers alike. the project is finished 'tile by tile', where each block is inscribed with a name or personal message of a sponsor or group of sponsors who donate over 25 USD.

What is Social Media Storytelling?

What is Social Media Storytelling? | Meet Green & Cheers! | Scoop.it
Many agencies claim to be "storytellers," but what does it really mean to be a brand storyteller in the digital/social media age?

Half emerging technology that everyone said would either rule the world or totally fail, half proven method of transferring emotion and knowledge

AlGonzalezinfo's curator insight, March 13, 2013 2:51 PM

Relevant article on the topic.  This is of special interest to my friends in academia who are already doing work that provides value to society.  We just need to tell the story better.

From the article:

...Since there’s a chance I might not know everything, I posed the same question to noted storytelling expert Michael Margolis, CEO of Get Storied. Said Margolis,

“Storytelling means you have to reveal something beyond self-congratulations. [It] is not just a gimmick to sell more crap. Storytelling is about relationship—most importantly describing the world of your audience, and how much you get who they are, what they care, and where they are trying to get in life.”

Effective social media storytelling starts at the beginning as does all brand storytelling on any platform or in any medium, and that’s the difference. An effective social media campaign rooted in storytelling will be united by one aspect—the brand’s Story Platform."

An Adaptable Shipping Container That Transforms For Different Uses Seamlessly

An Adaptable Shipping Container That Transforms For Different Uses Seamlessly | Meet Green & Cheers! | Scoop.it

Creatives from China’s Jikerzhicheng Product Design has transformed a shipping container to be a beautiful, modular, flexible space.

The designers used as little material as possible and incorporated circular cutouts at the tops and sides in order to allow natural light to enter, and cutouts at the bottom allow for movement in and out of the container.

The ability and flow of the space was to be seamlessly integrated to nature. The mobile container also has the potential for constant evolution and multiple uses, such as transforming from a stage set to sleeping quarters and even a tea house, if you desire.

Geometric Inspiration + Green Building: Taiwan's Zero-Carbon Swallows Nest

Geometric Inspiration + Green Building: Taiwan's Zero-Carbon Swallows Nest | Meet Green & Cheers! | Scoop.it

Taking inspiration from a geometric möbius strip, architect Vincent Callebaut has designed an impressive new building for Taiwan's Taichung gateway park.

The Swallows Nest's form starts out with a triangle that is then rotated around an elipse. Reaching a height of eight-stories, the building will house shops, cafes, and an "endless patio" which opens up into the park and is found in the center of the structure. It will host a variety of art within the many interior galleries.

The Swallows Nest also features various eco-friendly features. The undulating roof will have a number of solar panels attached to it, while the building's glass construction allows for natural light to enter. Three vertical gardens are found in the park's center, with one at each arched entrance. Most impressively, there will be continued efforts to make the Swallows Nest a zero carbon emissions structure.

Jonathan Belisle's curator insight, February 28, 2013 9:17 AM

Transmedia these days is strongly marketing-centric. Which, to me, as a storyteller, goes against the power of this thing. I want to tell stories, not sell widgets and dongles.
