The Erotic Life of Emptiness | Tricycle

The Erotic Life of Emptiness | Tricycle | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
We are the world unfolding.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"The erotic falling-in-love quality comes from noticing that I’m not outside the world any more, watching—instead I am the world unfolding—the eager dog, the drought in Australia, the homeless person in Santa Monica who offers me some excellent chocolate cake. Vertigo is a natural reaction: “I thought I knew who I was, but I’m not sure anymore.”"

Consciousness: The Ultimate Reality

Consciousness: The Ultimate Reality | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

The reality we experience in the macro-world of matter and forms from the micro-world of massless and formless quanta like photons can be explained employing top down causation implying supremacy of consciousness over matter, and the concept of manifestation. Manifestation implies almost instantaneous
perception through sense organs, usually eyes, mediated by brain, recognized and perceived by the nonlocal mind.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Quantum mechanics provides a junction between the manifested world of matter and forms and the ultimate reality of Pure Being which manifests the world - or manifests itself as the world - without losing its essential identity. "The junction is constituted of formless numerically identical, non-visualizable and non-local quanta transcending space and time, and local partially visualizable molecules forming macrostructures including living forms and objects of everyday life...."

The Enlightened Way Vs Controlled by Karma

The Enlightened Way Vs Controlled by Karma | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
Karma means conditioned action. Meditation Master Lama Thubten Yeshe calls it ‘habit energy’. When you are controlled by habit energy that’s what the Buddhist call being trapped in Samsara the wheel of suffering; trapping you within an endless cycle. Another name for it is addiction. There is another way of being, an enlightened way, where you are not
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Buddhists say that the root of suffering and the foundation of being controlled by karma is believing in a fixed personality. You believe that to be who you really are you need to protect that personality from harm and to acquire things that bring it pleasure. This is the basis of addictive behaviour. It is literally attachment and aversion based on a fictitious belief in who you are. Another brilliant article from Chad Foreman...

Theoretical Physicist Finds “Computer Code” in the Fabric of Space

Theoretical Physicist Finds “Computer Code” in the Fabric of Space | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

The idea that we live in a holographic universe that uses a form of quantum “computer code” to create the physical reality is not a new idea. In the 1940s, some physicists suggested that we live in a “computer generated” universe...

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Physicists are close to the realisation that the universe is the projection of a "CPU" (Central Processing Unit), using a binary code mediated by flashes of light - in the way a computer creates the illusion on a flat screen. Dr James Gates has also found elements resembling "error correcting codes" that help to maintain the illusion. If we can go beyond time and space and look down at our third dimensional reality, we will see that our reality is also made of flashes of electrical signals or light. In other words, this is the state of our reality before it is processed by our consciousness. The reason why we perceive things as solid is because our bodies and consciousness encode the energy patterns around us as solid. It is at this moment that we are tricked into believing that our reality is made of solid materials... Is it our consciousness that creates the reality, or is it a higher consciousness beyond time and space? In any event, it appears we can no longer ignore the big philosophical questions about meaning, significance and the idea of a creator...

This Moment Is Unique | Tricycle

This Moment Is Unique | Tricycle | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
The unique thing about each person’s lived experience is, well, its uniqueness. Because everything is changing all the time, every single thing that happens is new. The entire universe is in a fresh configuration every moment. There may be patterns that repeat, but no two sets of phenomena are exactly the same, ever.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

It is the radical transience of the world that makes it both tragic and beautiful, like the cherry blossom in Japanese aesthetics. The tragedy is that nothing actually exists; it is all passing away the instant it forms. The beauty is that we have the means to be aware of this, a moment to know the profound poignancy of this tiny corner of reality. —Andrew Olendzki

Neuroscience backs up the Buddhist belief  that “the self” isn’t constant, but ever-changing | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
You may believe that your essential being has always been the same. But Buddhism—and science—tell us that's an illusion.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

The Buddha was very "scientific" and rational in his approach to the human experience of reality - and the innate characteristics of our being. 2,500 years later modern neuroscience finds agreement with his teaching that there is no constant and discrete "self" that we can identify with. Whether you find this disturbing or a relief, well, it depends on your viewpoint...

The IP metaphor has had a half-century run, producing few, if any, insights along the way. The time has come to hit the DELETE key."

Beautiful reflections on a classic meditation text  that describes doorways for entering divine awareness right here in the midst of everyday life. The real story on the Chakras

The real story on the Chakras | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

This sure-to-be-controversial post unveils the truth (from the traditional perspective, anyway) about the subtle energy centers called chakras.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Christopher Wallis (Hareesh) has a PhD in Tantric Studies from Berkeley, and has also been involved in yoga and meditation since age seven. He knows what he's talking about. He argues that the chakra system has been oversimplified. It is a system of transformation (the literal meaning of the word tantra - "weave" or "loom" is a metaphor) and there are many different approaches depending on needs, and many different systems. It is not a fixed reality. For instance, the seed syllable LAM is associated with the Earth element, not Muladhara (root) chakra, as is taught. If you are using YAM (Air/wind) when meditating on Anahata (heart) chakra and your relationships are unstable, then use LAM. You can do that...

Awakening is a Destructive Process

Awakening is a Destructive Process | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
When Awakening to the Truth, you must break through the lies. There is no easy road to Enlightenment.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"Enlightenment is a destructive process.
It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier.
Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing
through the facade of pretense. It’s the
complete eradication of everything we
imagined to be true."
– Adyashanti

Paul DeBlassie III's curator insight, January 8, 9:31 AM

No easy road to enlightenment says it. I often reflect on how much of the consciousness movement forgets about the shadow aspect of the human personality. Dark realms of mind must be explored in order to authentically move into the mystic; otherwise we're simply titillated with psychic razmataz. To be moved, inspired, changed in a lasting manner we confront darkness and then light emerges in a manner organic to our nature.

These energies contain information, including information from the unified field as Divine messages to facilitate our higher paths in life."

A Person Can Never Become Enlightened - Here's Why

A Person Can Never Become Enlightened - Here's Why | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

Just be yourself. It’s difficult to be totally honest with yourself, yet this is exactly what you have to do. Forget about being a Jnani or enlightened, or having Self-realization. I get too many calls like that. People are calling me from all over the world telling me that

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"The worst thing you can ever do is to search for enlightenment, for liberation. This keeps you back. It keeps you back because there is a self that is searching. There is an I that is searching. There is a me that is trying to become something, and the whole idea is to remove something from your consciousness. Therefore, the process of realization is removal, not adding. Removing this and removing that. Removing all concepts and all preconceived ideas... And what is left will be nothing, no-thing. You are that. You are that no-thing."

It Turns Out Enlightenment is Just Having a Really Good Sense of Humour - The Way of Meditation

It Turns Out Enlightenment is Just Having a Really Good Sense of Humour - The Way of Meditation | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

The Buddhist have been onto the joke for a while, their main training is to not take things seriously. What else is being unattached than a great sense of humour? Buddha realised that all conditions of the world are temporary and taking any of it too seriously creates suffering. I’m not sure how humans made such a big a deal out of this simple truth but it’s because everyone else was taking  things seriously and causing a lot of problems for themselves they held up Buddha to be all enlightened, worshipped him, created another religion and over the years have mostly missed the basic point.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

The great cosmic joke is that you are what you are seeking. “I laugh when I think how I once sought paradise as a realm outside of the world of birth. It is right in the world of birth and death that the miraculous truth is revealed. But this is not the laughter of someone who suddenly acquires a great fortune; neither is it the laughter of one who has won a victory. It is, rather, the laughter of one who; after having painfully searched for something for a long time, finds it one morning in the pocket of his coat.” - Thich Nhat Hahn
