a little meditation goes a long way

Guido's comment, December 7, 2014 6:31 PM
This technique talks about a type of mindfulness which helps people to suppress their Anxiety Attacks. This technique focuses on the present and not on the past. Anxiety is something rooted in the brain which is caused by a fear full event in the past (Myers, 2014). This unpleasant memory is something we can either remember or we cannot. In that case it is stored in the brain without us knowing about it and be the cause for the Anxiety Attacks (Janov, 2013). With this therapy, people will never deal with their unpleasant memories or find the root causes for their Anxiety Attacks. It therefore only may help at the moment to suppress an Anxiety Attack but it will never prevent/cure it for coming back in the future.

5 Reasons You Might Fail At Meditation - About Meditation

5 Reasons You Might Fail At Meditation - About Meditation | About Meditation | Scoop.it
Why do people fail at meditation? There are some predictable reasons that are easy to avoid. Here are 5 reasons people give up on meditation way too soon.
Morgan Dix's insight:

“Do you struggle to get your meditation practice off the ground? If you’re like many people, meditation can be hard to start. And even when you do get started, it’s often difficult to find a groove or sweet spot. It can take time to reap the calming and clarifying benefits of your practice. Can you relate?

A lot of people give up because of this. Meditation just feels too foreign. In fact, there are studies which show that people would rather electrocute themselves than be alone with their own thoughts. Really? Yes, really.

And so it’s natural for you to conclude that because your mind is always buzzing, you’re no good at meditation. And then you lose steam. That’s too bad. Because it really doesn’t need to be like that, and I’ll explain why below. The truth is, if you understand why you feel like quitting, you can quickly reverse that momentum.”

Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things. ~Winston Churchill Criticism. Yuck! I don’t know many people who enjoy or embrace it. Do you like criticism? I sure don’t. It’s always a bitter pill to swallow. But the truth is, feedback and criticism can help us grow. Thoughtful and caring criticism expands our horizons and helps us see beyond our blinkered views. Unless you want to live in a closet for the rest of your life, it’s pretty hard to avoid feedback and criticism. For better and for worse, it’s part of the human experience. Life offers us a daily serving of it whether we like it or not. But according to many schools of thought, criticism is a powerful teacher. Becoming Bitter Or Better? So how can you embrace criticism? And where does mindfulness fit in? Author and leadership advisor Robin Sharma said it this way, Negative feedback can make us bitter o
