Cluuz Search

Cluuz Search | medical fraud | Scoop.it

Cluuz generates easier to understand search results through patent pending semantic cluster graphs, image extraction, and tag clouds.

The difference between standard search engines and Cluuz is in the fact that Cluuz does some work for you.

A standard search engine shows links in a list.

Cluuz instead peers into the searched web pages, extracts important terms and images, clusters them and gives them in chart format (semantic graph) and in a tag cloud where you can click on any entity to further focus your search...

ComplexInsight's curator insight, January 25, 2013 12:12 PM

Using DNA as an archive mechanism is a deeply interesing idea. all digital data storage so far has a limited lifespan related to the technologies used to create, write and read the storage medium. Anyone who has migrated files from tape drives, floppy drives, hardiscs to cd-roms and dvd's know this intimately. The research by the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) at Hinxton near Cambridge uses DNA as an archiving mechansim encoding data into specific nucleobases. The approach uses current generation DBA synthesis machines to generate the encoded DNA and potential data storage lifespan time is several thousand years. Click image or title to learn more.

Half of world's food going to waste, study finds - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

A new study has found that a staggering 50 per cent of the world's food goes to waste.

Via Arun Shrivastava

Arun Shrivastava's curator insight, January 12, 2013 12:06 AM

This report quotes a study that found that about 50% of all foods is wasted from the time it is harvested till the time it comes to kitchen. Another study, published some 7-8 years ago showed that US and UK alone waste about 100 billion dollars worth of food every year.

In India various government estimates show 10 to 40% wastage, nearly all post harvest losses. Especially perishables like fruits and veggies.

Yet, instead on focussing on systemic efficiency, Big Government still believes  more food production is required.

Kiara's comment, February 7, 2013 3:27 PM
This story is really alarming because you have a person that was to protect society and he has become someone who is harming others. He is psychologically disturbed because he lost his job over something that he did wrong. He is blaming other individuals who were involved in the situation that contributed to the loss of his job and in turn attacking them with intention to kill them. How scary to think that you can't trust your co workers. It might be necessary to do periodic psych evaluations on law enforcement officers because they hold so much power within the community. What's even more concerning is that officer is very aware of the procedure and protocol that officers will take so it may take some time to locate him. Although he is acting completely crazy, it would be interesting to know the complete side of both stories to see if the way the situation was handled that led up to him being fired was handled appropriately. Either way the ex-LAPD officer is unjustified in harming innocent people. His mentality is not one that an officer should maintain...no wonder he was kicked off the force. Yikes!
Rob Duke's comment, February 7, 2013 3:36 PM
I'm not sure how he could have made it through a psych eval, but I suppose it's possible that it was a cognitive dissonance break after the termination that caused this. We have remember these are just allegations at this time; and, also that the system has changed and does hold officer's accountable for their actions--that had not often been the case until the last decade or two.
Joshua Congleton's comment, February 11, 2013 7:40 PM
I think there is clearly something that needs to be updated in the psych part of the evaluation. I am no expert, but I do not think that someone could have just snapped so easily. I feel that something in the psych eval had to have been missed or looked over. There is absolutely no way to make this a perfect world, but the psych eval should be seriously looked into and reviewed for flaws.
