PNHP: From the internationally renowned economist, Dr. Hsaio

PNHP: From the internationally renowned economist, Dr. Hsaio | Medical Rescue: Healthcare Needed | Scoop.it

From the curator:

The best health care systems in the world are national systems. France has the best medical outcomes world wide.  Our US military is cutting edge with research and innovations right now that the civilian medical people are learning from.  One source of payment doesn't make care worse, it improves it and cuts out the non contributary elements of the private health insurance administration and profits. Private health insurance adds nothing to our medical care. They just take needed money out of the system.-MRP

Private U.S. healthcare, including Big Pharma, has become nationalized extortion.

We need to create public health care that works for the nation, not for profit. The for profit system kills people by rationing by income.  Is this what we want for ourselves and each other?

Margaret Reeve Panahi's insight:

Ugliness at work.

We have an electoral system-let's use it!

Recognize that for all of us, these, too, are the times that try our souls. Be peacefully but persistently aggressive. Demand of your representatives at national, state and local levels: either they deliver their votes to break the Money Power or they don’t get yours.-Bill Moyers and Bernard Weisberger

Margaret Reeve Panahi's insight:

Why don't we call oil companies who get subsidies "Moochers"?  It's true that they are moochers. It is astounding that no one talks about the real parasites on our economy-big corporate influence on our government and personal money that is evaporating and re-condensing in mega-wealthy bank accounts.

Patch Adams M.D. was born May 28, 1945, into a military family. His father died from war in 1961. He had lived overseas and then moved to the south in 1961 and placed in an all-white school. Immediately he became a political activist for peace, justice and care for all people and nature. Patch entered medical school in 1967 – to use medicine as a vehicle for social change. Upon graduation he started the Gesundheit Institute, a radical hospital project to create a hospital that would address every problem of healthcare delivery in one model. This hospital eliminates 90% of the cost of modern health care delivery by functioning as a communal eco-village where all staff live and make the same salary. The hospital ran a pilot from 1971 to 1983 and saw 15,000 people. It is now building its fantasy hospital in West Virginia. Patch has lectured 200 to 300 days a year since 1985, in 70 countries on social political medical issues. He has nothing good to say about market capitalism. He loves the journey every day.

Margaret Reeve Panahi's insight:

Patch Adams is the real, wonderful doctor, whom the movie that Robin Williams starred in is based on.

He is radically great.

Margaret Reeve Panahi's insight:
"Background

Pharmaceutical companies, which develop both over-the-counter and prescription drugs, have been among the biggest political spenders for years. While the industry has traditionally supported Republican candidates, some key players have recently increased donations to Democratic candidates as the GOP's power in Washington erodes."
