Dark undertones of US cyberspace diplomacy - GlobalTimes

Dark undertones of US cyberspace diplomacy - GlobalTimes | MediaMentor | Scoop.it
A borderless cyber world with a free flow of information and maximum economic benefits is an ideal situation, except that the standard is set by the US, which would "combine diplomacy, defense and development" to reach this vaguely stated goal.

Countries still at the receiving end of online information are at the stage of better integrating cyberspace into everyday life, to which end necessary Internet regulation is needed to ensure a fair and balanced online world.

How Not to Write About Africa - Binyavanga Wainaina - narrated by Djimon Hounsou

When Bono edited the Africa issue of Vanity Fair, it included an essay written by Kenyan writer Binyavanga Wainaina. Through that, we became aware of another piece he'd written for Granta a number of years ago called "How (Not) to Write About Africa." Director Jesse Dylan and his company FreeForm worked with Binyavanga and the Beninois actor Djimon Hounsou to create this filmed performance of the essay. Thanks to W Hotels for the location and Kenyan musician Ayub Ogada for the music.

Audio/video of NATO’s warnings to Gaddafi forces

The website of the Libyan Youth Movement contains a video of NATO’s broadcasts to Libyan forces in English and Arabic being received on a car radio. This particular broadcast was received in Zintan, a city in Northwest Libya about 160 km SW of Tripoli. The frequency displayed on the radio is 143000, which I assume to be 143 MHz. There are a couple of comments from website visitors about the Arabic accent. One says “They are speaking classic Arabic not dialect. The accent is more likely north African, maybe Algerian or Moroccan. Not Iraqi for sure. It would be more persuading to speak Libyan dialect.”

AT ABOUT 7pm on April 24, 1941, a familiar cut-glass English accent began its nightly broadcast from Nazi Germany. Six million Britons had tuned in to his sneering tones, some entertained, many frightened, others simply intrigued by the latest instalment of “Germany Calling” from Nazi propagandist “Lord Haw-Haw”.
