YouTube: Easily create video intros and outros

If you use YouTube playlists, to organise and manage videos, you may wish to try out a new feature which will enable you to add intros and outros to  the videos in the playlist to " weave individual videos together into a bigger story"

 

You can create these either as recorded 'to camera' pieces using your built in webcam or as text intros, there are a number of different styles and background effects to choose from. There is also an option to add background music.

 

The tool can be found in your Playlist settings in the Video Manager, click  Edit Playlist to use.

 

If students are creating playlist this facility might help them to think crtically about the content and sequences in a playlist.

This article draws a parallel between "show biz" and branding by explaining the concept of an overture. The article explains that the introduction to a brand helps drive its success. For example, for In-N-Out Burger, the kitchen is open and you can watch your food being cooked. A direct result of this is customer perception of fresh, nothing-to-hide, good food. While judging a book by its cover is a part of human nature, this article covers the first chapter of the book - to some a deciding factor whether or not they will continue to read. The "overture" of a brand helps fortify it and give it depth, which is extremely important in today's society.

To mark its 100th anniversary, Oreo is posting an image a day for 100 days. A recent picture marking the Mars Rover landing achieved viral gold. Here are the takeaways.

 

Now here's an article that should get your creative juices flowing! Got an image for your company that you can alter to link to world events or commemorative days?

 

That is what Oreo has done for its cookie. The photo here commemorates the Mars Rover landing (the red planet). Ingenious! This article by Michael Sebastian explains how Oreo keeps playing with its cookie to make it  immediately relevant. It's fun. It's play. The photos go viral.

 

Is this storytelling? Not in the classical sense. It is a visual story trigger -- which can be very effective.
