Darren Sharper Hyperbaric Chamber

Darren Sharper sleeps in Hyperbaric Chamber
Grant Knight's insight:

This is an interesting peice of technology because it is enhancing his level of sport.

Could this be considered cheating? Maybe

once everyone starts to hear about this could all of the players start to do it? and could it end up getting banned i think this would have a massive impact on sport and a lot of contraversity

Footbonaut: Dortmund's Secret Weapon

Footbonaut: Dortmund's Secret Weapon | Media and technology impact of sport | Scoop.it
Since November, Borussia Dortmund has used a new device, the Footbonaut, to hone the skills of its players.

Via Jason Williams
Grant Knight's insight:

This amazing peice of technology could be the secret to footballing sucsess!

the players must get the ball into a desired target and hit it they are given a target to hit and they have to try their best.

this will have a great impact on the footballing industry because all of the teams will want it if its a sucess but could people start complaining about it?

Jason Williams's curator insight, May 8, 2013 7:14 AM

This is great !! this has to be one of the best things around in football at the moment and you can see why considering borrusia dortmund Won the german league last year and have now reached the final of the chamipons league after beating real madrid in the semi (4-3) on aggregate. and this all can be put down to them being the only club to use the footbonaut. the footbonaut is a device which gets you to recieve the the ball quickly and then quickly pass it of into the correct zone. this device has increased the ability and skill of the borrusia squad and this is quite possibly the main reason for them doing so well in these last 2 seasons since they have been using it.

Are Roo sure you want to leave? United are a better team when Rooney plays

Are Roo sure you want to leave? United are a better team when Rooney plays | Media and technology impact of sport | Scoop.it
David Moyes’ first job may be to convince Wayne Rooney to stay at Manchester United once he sees how influential the England striker is at the Old Trafford club.
Grant Knight's insight:

with all the speculation from the media making this case worse how will it end up?

Because you get all sorts of things from different newspapers messing everything up like "wayne rooney wants to leave to go to chelsea?" or "to leave for bayern munich?" "handing in a transfer request" there is to much coverage on stuff like this? if he wants to leave then let him or not just get a bit of the story and then dive further into it

i think all of the coverage has a massive impact on supporters and induviduals because it will wind people up.

Luis Suarez 10-game ban: FA punishes Liverpool striker for bite

Luis Suarez 10-game ban: FA punishes Liverpool striker for bite | Media and technology impact of sport | Scoop.it
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is banned for 10 matches by the FA for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Via @AngloCatalans
Grant Knight's insight:

There has been a lot of cheating in sports this can include Drugs/ diving violence, and fixing, a good example of this is recently Suarez a Liverpool striker bit Ivanovic and the English F.A are reviewing the case. Previously Suarez has bitten someone in the Dutch league and he received a 7 match ban so this time will it be more? So fat he has been fined by the club and offered anger management because he is a controversial player.

we recently ofund out the he received a 10- match ban and a 40k fine and has been advised to undergo anger management.

GPS system makes Jack Wilshere reconsider England Under-21 stance

GPS system makes Jack Wilshere reconsider England Under-21 stance | Media and technology impact of sport | Scoop.it
Arsenal have used scientific data to show Jack Wilshere his increased tiredness levels, convincing him that playing for England Under-21s this summer would be a bad idea
Grant Knight's insight:

I think this would be a great ideo not just for Wiltshere this will then give everyone an insight of who does the most on the pitch! and who trys hard enough and who doesnt

maybe managers could also set them targets to cover so much per game? it could also give managers an idea of when to substitute players because you will notice when the start to cover less ground. there fore this could end up being great for the footballing industry

Shane Third's curator insight, May 8, 2013 6:53 AM

The use of technology can be great to help player develop and stay healthily. For example this article discusses the fitness of Jack Wilshere due to the fact he’s been playing too much football and his recovery period isn’t long enough between games. This is important because it can potentially save his career. For example because they are able to motor his fitness levels they will tell when he needs to recover. This there for will lower the risk of obtaining serious injuries. Therefore being able to monitor a player’s development through technology is great for the clubs and players for the reasons mentioned above. Also with this GPS technology they are able to tell whether they need to up the players training sessions or lower them.

Roberto Mancini will be sacked by Manchester City this week - Telegraph

Roberto Mancini will be sacked by Manchester City this week - Telegraph | Media and technology impact of sport | Scoop.it
Roberto Mancini will be sacked as Manchester City manager this week, with the Italian potentially losing his job before Tuesday’s Premier League trip to Reading.
Grant Knight's insight:

Another thing to do with media: to much coverage

there hasnt been a certain statement to say that Mancini is beeing sacked, i think a lot of people are forgetting he won the league last year for the first time in AGES! and now they just want to get rid of him? look at Sir Alex Ferguson did he get sacked if he didnt meet the expected target? no beacause you need stability in a team you cant keep chopping and changing unless your team name is Chelsea. this is bad and will have an impact on a lot of people and he doesnt have the backing from Man city fans? there not really fans then are they.

Joey Barton wages a Twitter war against the cast of The Only Way Is Essex.

Grant Knight's insight:

stuff like this is a great example of media impact

football players are always penalised for having their opinion or defending themselves or even making apologies or to get rid of or create speculation but things like trying to get people banned from twitter is outrageous

they are just normal people like us just paid rediculous amounts of money.

but Joey barton will probably get match bans for this because its "unprofessional" but in some cases its his fault because of his reputation.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard welcomes introduction of goal line technology

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard welcomes introduction of goal line technology | Media and technology impact of sport | Scoop.it
Frank Lampard, the man whose disallowed World Cup goal forced FIFA into a U-turn on goal-line technology, has welcomed the announcement that the Premier League will use the Hawkeye system from next season.

Via VERONICA LESTER
Grant Knight's insight:

My insight for this is a good one, some of the calls every season for disallowed goals are ridiculous! one of the most famous ones was in the world cup when England were beaten by Germany 4-1 with lampards dissallowed goal when it clearly went over the line.

not only is this is good thing for goals that cannot be seen but goals can also be given when they dont go in because the pace of the game is so fast.

this tech will have a great impact on football and it will cause controversity throughout the world!

BUT THERE WILL BE NOTHING LEFT TO MOAN ABOUT!

less conversations? maybe
