Mustapha Barki's insight:
Two paleontologists have uncovered evidence that a dinosaur fossil, excavated way back in 1942, was hiding a record number of injuries. It had at least eight bone fractures and sites of damage through infection. As the new study in PLOS ONE reveals, this beast lived on despite its dramatic injuries – but it probably would have been in a considerable amount of pain. The dinosaur in question is a species called Dilophosaurus wetherilli, a feathered creature that roamed the Earth 193 million years ago, during the Early Jurassic. It was made famous by the film "Jurassic Park" as the small, venom-spitting reptile with a retractable frill around its neck, although these two features were fabrications. In reality, this dinosaur was larger, at about six meters (20 feet) long and up to 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) in weight. Based on its frightening array of sharp teeth and powerful legs, it was a carnivore. This new study, which reexamined the original D. wetherilli fossil, reveals that it appeared to have experienced a range of injuries rather suddenly – perhaps the result of a single, brutal battle.A fractured left shoulder blade, a serious bone infection in its left thumb, trauma to its upper right arm, and a break in its lower left arm are just some of its afflictions. It also appeared to have examples of bone deformation, leaving it with at least one permanently twisted finger; this is likely to be the result of a condition called osteodysplasia, where unusual skeletal growth causes imperfectly aligned or positioned joints or bones.According to Phil Senter, a professor of biology at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and co-author of the study, as this finger was always protruding from the hand, the dinosaur was constantly flipping the bird. “It wasn’t being rude,” Senter said in a statement. “It just couldn’t help it.”The dinosaur’s right hand had a permanently extended finger. Phil Senter & Sara Juengest/PLOS ONEA long section of bone in one of its forearms is also completely missing. Unlike mammals, dinosaurs were unable to re-grow lost bone, meaning that this particular Jurassic beast had to live without this chunk of bone for the rest of its life. The fractures, however, show signs of healing and growth, meaning that this dinosaur lived on for many more months or even several years after acquiring the injuries. Its hands, presumably used in combat, were rendered partly inoperable, meaning that it would have been unable to pounce on large dinosaurs in order to kill and consume them. Consequently, it would likely have had to live off smaller, passive prey to get by, which may have caused it to experience a dramatic loss in weight. The cause of these eight injuries is impossible to determine for sure, but the authors suggest that a battle with a fellow dinosaur may have been to blame. Being thrown quite aggressively against a rock or tree while fending off a predator, or even some particularly defensive prey, may have done the trick. All in all, this D. wetherilli has the most upper-body injuries ever seen for a theropod dinosaur, a group of bipedal, mostly carnivorous dinosaurs. The previous record-holder was a Tyrannosaurus rex named Sue, which had four bone injuries.

Mustapha Barki's insight:
72th anniversary of the presentation of the Manifesto of Independence: From independence to social democracy
The Moroccan people, famous, from Tangier to Lagouira, January 11, the feast commemorating the 72th anniversary of the presentation of the Manifesto of Independence which is one of the glorious and historical stages in contemporary Morocco. This memorable day reminds Moroccans today, the noble actions of the nationalists so that future generations can live and sovereign dignity. It is certain that our country has had a safe and peaceful transformation, he was able to bring order where there was anarchy and arbitrary, transform a country divided into a modern United preserving its authenticity, character, dignity, arts and cultures and looking to the future. His Majesty King Mohamed VI, by the ability of his reforms, his genius, his personal prestige, could achieve beneficial change allowing Moroccans to fully enjoy the material and moral wealth of their country. So commemoration of this glorious anniversary, celebrated in an atmosphere of healing and joy when other countries are the target of attacks and acts of inhuman violence, show that Moroccans are more united than ever. Moroccans, confident in their future, are indeed aware that their ability to produce wealth is more than ever released. The love of their country and their sacred institutions makes them a people who know their rights and duties. Moreover, their grievances regarding expectations are always accompanied by constructive solutions, because our country bases its actions and approaches on a participatory politics,
fundamentally based on democratic and effective pluralism and on political and social structures of mediation. What the Morocco can claim is that the internal difficulties are not resolved through violence, like the January 11, 1944, which left us a wealth of lessons: A great self-confidence and patriotism without fault. Two essential qualities in our national life. That same day also taught us that our parents had deep faith that enabled them to overcome the painful moments caused by the protectorate and then the worst of trials, which has developed among generations freedom of mind and leads the majority of them to attend the "school of life"; so if human rights are now chanted by each other, to the Moroccan today, they must also live in the acts of every day, especially those SOCIAL! This year the festival is plural, because it is the feast of diplomatic successes, economic and social. Its commemoration by the Istiqlal Party on the eve of the commemoration of the Year "in 2966 Amazigh" is a signal that confirms, if necessary, the inalienable commitment of forces constituting the extension of the National Movement and its cultures and values their full adherence to the societal project of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and their fierce commitment to meet with him the challenges of today and tomorrow. This is also the success of the democratic model promoted by the bright fores of the Moroccan nation and led by the Istiqlal Party. Indeed, based on a rational approach and a realistic methodology, Moroccan democracy found its specificity in a progressive pedagogy that consolidates the achievements in building the future, which sits a solid foundation to devote organized and constructive action, helping it strengthen its participation and performance, and which invests in the hearts and minds of young people, the main guarantee of its durability. Diplomatically, the party is great and even greater are the lessons of this commemoration. A real history lesson, given the conditions of our environment and the global context in which we live. However, keep in mind that our success does not leave indifferent, and that we can not be immune to the plots of the enemies of our territorial integrity, without care, without liability, without vigilance, without solidarity and without a net visibility of the challenges that we are called to face. In this context, the social project of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, based on "the general design of a national advanced regionalization model encompassing all regions of the Kingdom" was clearly developed by the Sovereign during the speech of January 4, 2010 , discourse which aims to develop a Moroccan-Moroccan model of regionalization, from the specifics of our country, including the monarchy, which is among the oldest in the world is the guarantor of the unity of the nation, embodying the symbiosis binds to different components of the people. It is, in fact, the manual that is needed. And it's done. Today, one thing is certain: The Moroccans have the knowledge and have significant resources. It remains to operate a "will to act and build confidence" while especially if many things have changed, others call to being, including the component of the broader expression of democracy is the second part of the manifesto of Independence in 1944. As we know, the brave signatories to this historic document also sought independence, the establishment of democratic virtues. Morocco is now cited as a pioneer in the field in the Arab and African world, moving in the right direction and it is currently strengthening its democratic scaffolding to the delight of Moroccans. The advances in this area are a sign of resolute entrance of our political system in the modern era and especially so that it has initiated its stride with confidence. It is these performances that we are commemorating today. The government will be displayed more than ever, and enact the necessary and appropriate reforms to bring more social justice, more transparency in the management of public affairs in view of the urgency imposed, is now a reality. Therefore, a true repository of the will of the signatories of the Manifesto of January 11, 1944 to independence and democracy, the Istiqlal Party campaigned and remains mobilized for the consecration of the ideals of equality, justice and prosperity of the Moroccan society. It is in this context that the current government must translate on the ground concrete actions on democratic, economic and social as well as sports. Moroccan youth does not require it. In this sense and as a performer and faithful defender of patriotic ideals, the Istiqlal Party has continued to display its will to live that Morocco finally a real and effective democracy and genuine elections capable of restoring trust and reconciliation of the population with public affairs. The consultation is today more than ever the watchword of every approach and vision for the future and any national strategy. This principle becomes more significant when it comes to the future of the youth of our country. This is a national vision based on patriotism. Such a vision can only be consolidated, strengthened in the era of change and globalization with a strong will to overcome the shackles of underdevelopment. The change took place on the world stage after painful terrorist acts, more than ever continued vigilance and future actions to be up to the challenges in terms of economic and social development and improvement of social status of all Moroccan and Moroccan accordance with the wishes of His Nation Guide Majesty Mohammed VI God glorifies and perpetuates his reign. While it is true that we can not ignore the past, we are also required to change the future serenely and initiate the plan of our Moroccan-Moroccan regionalization
In an article for Pitchfork, music critic Adam Ward reminisces about digital music files that sound as if they’re “being played through a payphone,” and calls the extreme compression of the low-quality MP3 “this generation’s vinyl crackle or skipping CD.” The crackles, hisses, and compression that characterize such sound files are what I term “encoded materiality.”…

Mustapha Barki's insight:
( 10 ) We will ease him toward difficulty.
( 11 ) And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?
( 12 ) Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.
( 13 ) And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
( 14 ) So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.
( 15 ) None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.
( 16 ) Who had denied and turned away.
( 17 ) But the righteous one will avoid it -
( 18 ) [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself
( 19 ) And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded
( 20 ) But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.
( 21 ) And he is going to be satisfied.
( 1 ) By the morning brightness
( 2 ) And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,
( 3 ) Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].
( 4 ) And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].
( 5 ) And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
( 6 ) Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
( 7 ) And He found you lost and guided [you],
( 8 ) And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
( 9 ) So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].
( 10 ) And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].
( 11 ) But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].
( 1 ) Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?
( 2 ) And We removed from you your burden
( 3 ) Which had weighed upon your back( 4 ) And raised high for you your repute.( 5 ) For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.( 6 ) Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.( 7 ) So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].( 8 ) And to your Lord direct [your] longing.( 1 ) By the fig and the olive( 2 ) And [by] Mount Sinai( 3 ) And [by] this secure city [Makkah],( 4 ) We have certainly created man in the best of stature;( 5 ) Then We return him to the lowest of the low,( 6 ) Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.( 7 ) So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?( 8 ) Is not Allah the most just of judges?( 1 ) Recite in the name of your Lord who created -( 2 ) Created man from a clinging substance.( 3 ) Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -( 4 ) Who taught by the pen -( 5 ) Taught man that which he knew not.( 6 ) No! [But] indeed, man transgresses( 7 ) Because he sees himself self-sufficient.( 8 ) Indeed, to your Lord is the return.( 9 ) Have you seen the one who forbids( 10 ) A servant when he prays?( 11 ) Have you seen if he is upon guidance( 12 ) Or enjoins righteousness?
And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority.( 20 ) And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.( 21 ) But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone."( 22 ) And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people.( 23 ) [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued.( 24 ) And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned."( 25 ) How much they left behind of gardens and springs( 26 ) And crops and noble sites( 27 ) And comfort wherein they were amused.( 28 ) Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people.( 29 ) And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.( 30 ) And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment -( 31 ) From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors.( 32 ) And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds.( 33 ) And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial.( 34 ) Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying,( 35 ) "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected.( 36 ) Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful."( 37 ) Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.( 38 ) And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play.( 39 ) We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know.
( 40 ) Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all -
( 41 ) The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped -
( 42 ) Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
( 43 ) Indeed, the tree of zaqqum
( 44 ) Is food for the sinful.
( 45 ) Like murky oil, it boils within bellies
( 46 ) Like the boiling of scalding water.
( 47 ) [It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire,
( 48 ) Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water."
( 49 ) [It will be said], "Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble!
( 50 ) Indeed, this is what you used to dispute."
( 51 ) Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place;
( 52 ) Within gardens and springs,
( 53 ) Wearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other.
( 54 ) Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
( 55 ) They will call therein for every [kind of] fruit - safe and secure.
( 56 ) They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
( 57 ) As bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment.
( 58 ) And indeed, We have eased the Qur'an in your tongue that they might be reminded.
( 59 ) So watch, [O Muhammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end].
