Susan Daniels's curator insight, May 15, 8:22 AM

"Stategy-Tactics" with the use of "Tools".  This graphic shows the overlapping nature of information tools available online.

1. Multi-Media Learning Platform

2. Digital Tools for Finding Information

3. Digital Tools for Understanding Information

4. Digital Tools for Using Information

5. Digital Tools to Support Writing

Assignment: What specific tools do you use for each of these Tactics?

What can we add to these circles? Add your answers to the comment section.

I visited this blog to dig a little deeper and find that they have updated their model with pop-up explanations of how teachers of the 21st Century may apply this to their students either in a classroom setting or virtually across the world.

http://d97cooltools.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/digital-differentiation-get-wired.html

It's well worth the visit, my friends, to see the miracle of the internet and it's effect on the modern "classroom."

Warmly,

Susan Daniels

Education-2020 - A Wiki on #Connectivism

Education-2020 - A Wiki on #Connectivism | Maximizing Business Value | Scoop.it
Ana Cristina Pratas's curator insight, June 5, 1:26 AM

Siemen's Principles of connectivism:

  • Learning and knowledge rests in diversity of opinions.
  • Learning is a process of connecting specialized nodes or information sources.
  • Learning may reside in non-human appliances.
  • Capacity to know more is more critical than what is currently known
  • Nurturing and maintaining connections is needed to facilitate continual learning.
  • Ability to see connections between fields, ideas, and concepts is a core skill.
  • Currency (accurate, up-to-date knowledge) is the intent of all connectivist learning activities.
  • Decision-making is itself a learning process. Choosing what to learn and the meaning of incoming information is seen through the lens of a shifting reality. While there is a right answer now, it may be wrong tomorrow due to alterations in the information climate affecting the decision.

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Awesome Poster on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Awesome Poster on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy | Maximizing Business Value | Scoop.it

Med Kharback:

I just got this poster from a fellow teacher featuring the 6 thinking skills as outlined in the revised taxonomy. As you probably know, Blooms taxonomy that was first created in the 1950s has been revised by Krathwohl and there are two  main changes that appeared in this revised taxonomy: the first one is semantic in that nouns are now being replaced with verbs; and the second change relates to the order of these thinking skills. In the old taxonomy, Bloom highlighted the importance of evaluating and therefore placed it at the top of the  thinking continuum, but for Krathwohl Creating is the highest order thinking skill.

Amazon launches Storyteller to turn scripts into storyboards -- automagically

Amazon launches Storyteller to turn scripts into storyboards -- automagically | Maximizing Business Value | Scoop.it

Excerpt from review article by VentureBeat:
"Upload your script, choose some backgrounds, and magically created a professional-looking storyboard of your movie. Or the graphic novel version of your text-based anything.

Amazon Studios released Storyteller today to allow writers and filmmakers to quickly, easily — and cheaply — storyboard their scripts.

Roy Price, Amazon’s director of Studios said: “Storyteller provides a digital backlot, acting troupe, prop department, and assistant editor — everything you need to bring your story to life.”

You start by uploading a script to Amazon Studios — or by playing with one that’s already there. Then simply page through the script paragraph by paragraph. Storyteller will try to match up characters, props, and background with the words in each chunk of text, and it does a surprisingly good job.

But if you don’t like what Storyteller gives, you can choose from its library, or even upload your own custom background or characters. Currently, the software has a library of thousands of props, characters, and backgrounds..."

Ana Cristina Pratas's curator insight, May 14, 6:38 AM

As we move into a post-job economy, the difference between labour and talent will become more distinct. Producers and Improvers will continue to get automated, at the speed of Moore’s law. Those lacking enough ‘Talent’ competencies may get marginalized. I think there will be increasing pressure to become ‘Thinkers + Builders’, similar to what  Cory Doctorow describes as Makers in his fictional book about the near future.
