4 Big Misconceptions About Content Marketing | Matters of Content |
Creating quality content can pay off, as long as you adopt the right approach.
Lynn Pineda's insight:

Sometimes you just have to face the music and the same holds true with content marketing for your business. There aren't any shortcuts when it comes to content marketing. It's not about just throwing out some dismal content here and there. It's not about writing about what you want to write about. It's not about copying other's ideas.

It is about writing quality content routinely and promoting it well with your customer needs and end goal in mind.  Is your current strategy doing this?

"The unfortunate reality is that content marketing is a long-term game that requires consistent investment, paired with frequent evaluation and course changes as needed to be successful. Following some default formula you find online simply won’t work as well as listening to your audience’s feedback and producing the types of content that your data demonstrates will interest them most."

25 Reasons You Need A Business Blog - Convert With Content | Matters of Content |
In today's online ecosystem having a website is not enough. It's just a start. If you aren't sure what you need to be doing online to keep relevant, fresh, and active, start with a blog. Here's why.
Lynn Pineda's insight:

And then more blog! These 25 Reasons really do cover all the bases on why blogging and writing content.  I particularly like #25:

" ...  24. Blogging Answers Your Customers Questions
This is important. People have questions and are searching for them online. By answering them in a blog format you are increasing the life of that answer and increase the odds that you'll acquire a new customer who may have that same question..."

I know in Real Estate, that my customers always have questions.  Why not answer what they're thinking in a blog article?  What makes perfect sense to us, as professionals, may not make sense to the homeowner getting ready to sell their home for the first time or how about that person buying a home for the first time; they're full of questions!  Answer your customers questions and they'll likely consider that you must be knowledgeable and will consider using your services.

Monica S Mcfeeters's curator insight, March 14, 2014 9:33 PM

This is one of the best reasons for art education. A visually or media illiterate citizen or consumer is very apt to be manipulated or make unwise choices.

From Wikipedia:

Visual literacy includes in addition the ability to understand visual forms of communication such as body language, pictures, maps, and video.Evolving definitions of literacy often include all the symbol systems relevant to a particular community. Literacy encompasses a complex set of abilities to understand and use the dominant symbol systems of a culture for personal and community development. In a technological society, the concept of literacy is expanding to include the media and electronic text, in addition to reading and writing.

5 Steps To Build Trust Using Content Marketing

Lynn Pineda's insight:

The content we present should have always been key in marketing ourselves to the customers we try to reach and now, more than ever. the emphasis is on content marketing. If you're not marketing with content you'll find yourself falling into a deep, dark hole and then trying to dig your way out will be a very difficult task.

What should your content be about? Should it be spammy and sales pushy? Not unless you want to find yourself in the deep, dark hole I mentioned earlier.  The content that you present should be all about building trust. Establishing trust is how you'll get someone to want to interact with you and ultimately do business with you.  Unfortunately, there isn't a quick fix to establish trust.  Building trust, requires a constant drip of good quality information that shows you to be a person of integrity who holds the key to what it is you need.  This article here by Daniel Newman highlights some great steps in which to get there.

Lynn Pineda's insight:

As the article suggests, content marketing is huge for 2014.  Large and small companies are embracing it's importance. When you compete  for business in 2014, you're wise to have the creation of content on your checklist.

Content marketing isn't just for the Big Boys, it's also suits well to the individual business owner, like myself, as a South Florida Real Estate Agent.  If you choose not to sink, you'd better start swimming in the sea of content and start putting out content.

Stefano Principato's curator insight, February 23, 2014 2:37 PM

Many of the content marketer positions (also occasionally called Blog Editor or even Content Engineer) are the first position of their kind within the company, showing a new trend in hiring someone to focus solely on content.
