CNN: Repeal 17th Amendment?

This video from CNN shows that the Constitution is still a living document. It can be changed whenever it is needed. Some parts of the document may not relate to modern times, or it may not suit our modern nation's needs anymore. It just goes to show that the founding fathers were very forward thinking in allowing amendments to be repealed when no longer needed.

I selected this article, because the National Archives did a good job of explaining this amendment. It tells how it developed over time, and explains what it is. At first, they were elected via State Legislature. This lead to some corrupton, serving private interests. There would even be vacanices in the Senate lasting a long time. Congress put this amendment into effect to get away from this.

Happily, repealing 17th Amendment won’t be easy to do

This article shows that even though amendments can be repealed, it is not easy to do so. The idea came up because two Texas lieutentant governer candidates suggested that people voted for their interests, which aren't always the best interests for the nation.
