Researchers at the CSIRO have developed Zebedee, a spring-mounted 3D laser scanner and mapper capable of scanning complicated interiors in double-quick time...
Advancnements in 3D scanning technology, means it's really becoming a more practical method of mapping large structures. Zebedee is a great example of this. - Here are some videos of it in action : https://wiki.csiro.au/display/ASL/Zebedee
The HP Envy 17 is a big-size laptop that has Leap Motion technology built in.
Matmi Jeff and I had a conversation a while ago about where technology was heading. My point was that touch is an awkward control mechanism, and tech would likely develop to allow control of hardware through a more natural input method.
Gesture control is that method. Blinking to take a picture with Google Glass feels natural, as does a swipe gesture to change screens. The technology is getting there and will explode in the near future. Google Glass, Leap Motion and Oculus Rift are just a few of the products that will come to define this move. love it!
Me and the boys played a bit of a joke on our mate Russ. Kegs of beer have been plumbed into every tap in the house, with loads of cameras to catch the actio...
I love this marketing prank by Tui beer. The branding is so subtle that you'd almost miss it, but its done with such warmth and humour that you can't help but get sucked in. Lovely marketing! - @MatmiStew
Video games seldom deliver a "happily ever after". The fight has been fought, the princess has been rescued, but the sequel is on its way! Why not crank the difficulty up another notch and give it another shot?
This is really ace. What ever happened to.........Street Fighter's warriors. After they were famous. I'd love to see Sonic, Mario, Princess Peach, Bomberman.......... @MatmiStew
We've all got several old phones hidden away. I can think of 3 that I have under my bed alone, then there's the old cameras, VCR's, TV's, stereo's, radio's, walkmens, games consoles, laptops. So much old junk that never really broke, but I just upgraded.
The sheer volume of old tech that we chuck away is extraordinary. Which is why Phoneblocks is such an amazing idea. Now if only they can make it look super sexy and I think they are onto a winner!
I'm definitely getting one, as long as I can still play subway surfers on it.
In what is widely regarded as his greatest presentation ever, Apple's Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone to the world on January 9th, 2007. In the five-plus years since then, the iPhone, iPad, and...
Even for a non supporter of Apple products (I'm android and windows all the way baby!) you can't help but appreciate their standing in the marketplace. This is a really nice trawl through the history of iOS and the hardware. Crazy to think that 7 years ago there wasn't even an iPhone! - @MatmiStew
British Jaegers: what if Pacific Rim was set in the UK? In the current robots-punching-monsters movie Pacific Rim, the giant monster-fighting robots - or “Jaegers” - all have evocative two-word names....
Sometimes living in the UK makes me despair, but then I'm reminded of what makes the country great. Our sense of humour. This is ace - @MortStew
I love this! I'm really coming round to Oculus Rift, I was slightly dubious until I actually tried it plugged into www.playthesmiler.com. The opportunities for exploration with this kit is huge and I'm so excited to see what comes out. - @MatmiStew
