Let’s Rank The Final Fantasy Games, Best to Worst

Let’s Rank The Final Fantasy Games, Best to Worst | Matmi Staff finds... | Scoop.it
For the past two months, we've been running a feature called Pecking Order, in which we rank every game in a series, from best to worst. First up was Halo, then Grand Theft Auto. Now it's Final Fantasy's turn.
Matmi's insight:

I see a strong correlation between low ranking Final Fantasys and voice acting on this list. Will they ever reclaim the glory days of the PS1? ^ML

Wood iPad Retro Television Dock

Wood iPad Retro Television Dock | Matmi Staff finds... | Scoop.it

Check out this fantastic iPad dock from Valliswood. Designed to look like an old TV complete with dials and rabbit ears (remember dials?! you actually had to get up to change the channel) but with a slot to hold your iPad. A hole in the fold-down rear panel lets you run the charging cord through it. Handmade by a craftsman named Mario in Croatia from local trees- old stumps, broken or parted logs- none are from living trees. Beautiful.

Matmi's insight:

Lovely craftmanship. Obviously it's all for show with no real functionaly added to the ipad use but still, very attractive storage space :)

McDonald's Augmented Reality App Shows Whats Inside Your Meal

McDonald's Augmented Reality App Shows Whats Inside Your Meal | Matmi Staff finds... | Scoop.it

McDonalds has been known for several things: happy meals, golden french fries and unhealthy fast food are just some of what comes to mind. McDonalds has been known for their unhealthy fast food made famous by Morgan Spurlock’s film, “Supersize me.”  Well, DDB Australia is here to help combat that idea with one of their latest campaigns.

It’s called the TrackMyMacca app. It was just lunched in Australia today and the app utilizes Augmented Reality to show Australians what their meal is made of .

Matmi's insight:

I agree with the authors sentiment. It is great to more creative uses of augmented reality and a clever way for MacDonalds to try push back on their un-healthy food image (never really recovered from Supersize Me). But lets face it' no one truly thinks its a healthy food.

I feel its more of a gimicky app but one that atleast gets people talking about the brand in a more positive light. Just part of what a creative digital marketing solution can do for brands.

Google Declares War on the Password | Wired Enterprise | Wired.com

Google Declares War on the Password | Wired Enterprise | Wired.com | Matmi Staff finds... | Scoop.it

Want an easier way to log into your Gmail account? How about a quick tap on your computer with the ring on your finger?

This may be closer than you think. Google’s security team outlines this sort of ring-finger authentication in a new research paper, set to be published late this month in the engineering journal IEEE Security & Privacy Magazine. In it, Google Vice President of Security Eric Grosse and Engineer Mayank Upadhyay outline all sorts of ways they think people could wind up logging into websites in the future — and it’s about time.

2012 may have been the year that the password broke. It seemed like everyone on the internet received spam e-mail or desperate pleas for cash — the so-called “Mugged in London” scam — from the e-mail accounts of people who had been hacked. And Wired’s own Mat Honan showed everyone just how damaging a hack can be.

Via Martin Gysler
Matmi's insight:

Interesting to think that we could one day be using the rings on our fingers or our smartphones instead of passwords to access our emails . I think this probably makes us more vulnerable to hacking, phones/rings are very easy to loose - What are do you think ? Would you prefer it this way or the traditional password way ? - HK
