If we cannot show our students that we can trust what they do, then we are really are missing an important piece in this whole process of education. There are other favorable alternatives to the use of drones.

Redefining Failure in the classroom by Ben Johnson

Redefining Failure in the classroom by Ben Johnson | Matemática e não só! | Scoop.it
Why encouraging students to get everything right is the wrong direction.

Via Tom D'Amico (@TDOttawa)
Helena Fonseca's insight:
"I believe that truly embracing failure in our classrooms is an antidote to shallow learning. For example, students in difficult math classes in Helsinki, Finland, are expected to fail horribly at first, and the students and teachers don’t freak out about it. The students are given time and support to learn from their mistakes and make corrections. They understand that always getting the problem right or getting it right from the very start is not akin to living in the real world."

"Why encouraging students to get everything right is the wrong direction." It is. When we did not get the right answers, I asked students what might have happened to lead to the "failure?" Having students and teachers explore those questions can be quite fruitful.

There is no escaping phones in the classroom these days.  We might as well have students put them to use in a constructive way that helps them learn what you are trying to teach.  Check out all of these ideas.  There are at least 2 - 3 you can apply to your lessons.

Angélica Potes's curator insight, May 9, 9:31 AM
Nowadays, the implementation of technology in the classroom has been an action taken by more and more teachers and institutions that has given a new era to education. Although most of the state schools can not facilitate technology in the classroom having tablets or laptops for each student, they can show different ways to shape the knowledge in a bunch of means to facilitate their learning process. Today, internet offers us a new virtual tool that is so helpful to diagram the information to learn, which eases the manner to observe the things to acquire the data in one fell swoop. This schematization is called infographics and from my point of view, it is a resourceful visual aid that permits students learn different info compiled in one only poster. Therefore, as I am a visual spatial learner (according to the multiple intelligences, Gardner) lots of people like me can use infographics to ease their learning process and boost their knowledge to the maximum.
