Why You Need a Business Coach

Why You Need a Business Coach | Markteing | Scoop.it

An outsider's perspective can be more valuable than you suspect.

Steve Jobs had Bill Campbell.

Jodie Foster leaned on Robert De Niro.

Andy Murray has Ivan Lendl.

High performers in any field typically have a coach or mentor. A great coach provides you with the benefit of their experience and asks more questions than they answer. They force you to think about your business in ways that you wouldn’t do on your own.

The greats from all walks of life use a coach to get even better. But don’t obsess over finding a mentor from your own industry. Sometimes the very best coaches know nothing about your industry. It is their status as an outsider that makes their perspective so valuable.

"It's not the consumers' job to know what they want" but 4 to 1 early adopters would pick smart watches over glasses

"It's not the consumers' job to know what they want" but 4 to 1 early adopters would pick smart watches over glasses | Markteing | Scoop.it

By Eric Newcomer - One of the most important questions about the future of computing is this: wrist or face? Google has been trumpeting its Glass devices, which can take photos and run applications like Facebook and Twitter on a small screen within eyesight. Apple, which is working on a secret smartwatch, has been publicly pushing the case for the wrist.

Of course the big caveat of this study is that it's very hard for consumers to project themselves using new devices they haven't discovered yet. The story of the iPad is a good example of that. But it's an interesting data point in the coming glass vs watch battle in the Apple / Google war.

Do Paywalls Change the Engagement Equation? - The Huffington Post

Jake Batsell seems to think so, saying that while advertising-driven models of digital journalism aim to maximize page views, when news organizations introduce online subscriptions "it reconfigures the benchmarks for success."

Which leads to the question: What are online readers willing to pay for digital content?

It's one of those complex issues troubling publishers, editors and reporters who have to worry about producing enticing content to compete with the plethora of digital fare, and, ensure the success of their revenue streams.
