The entire concept of blogging may not be rocket science, but there is still a large component that drives a formula for success. If you’re starting a blog and you want your content to spread, you have to do a few things to ensure that the content is worth sharing. You need to focus on creating valuable content and not making the typical content marketing mistakes. Over the last 5 years I’ve learned how to successfully create content for both my personal blog and clients. Furthermore, I’ve learned what not to do and the importance of kick-starting your blogging efforts the right way. If you’re new to blogging or planning to get into it, here are a few things you should do:...

Innovation Excellence | Embrace Self-Disruption Using the Business Model Canvas

Innovation Excellence | Embrace Self-Disruption Using the Business Model Canvas | Маркетинг для малого бизнеса | Scoop.it

Your business is unsustainable in its present form. It doesn’t matter what you make, or sell, or offer. If you continue to embrace “business as usual,” you are doomed.

That was the bottom-line message offered by Alexander Osterwalder, co-author of Business Model Generator, in his Day Two keynote at the Front End of Innovation conference in Boston this week. As I learned in my days at Forrester Research, whether you are writing a research report or giving a speech, there’s nothing like starting off with a little fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) to get people’s attention.

Osterwalder introduced the crowd to his Business Model Canvas (BMC), which is a tool that allows people to make existing or new business models tangible so they can be discussed. There are 9 components to the BMC: Customer Segments, Customer Relationships, Channels, Value Propositions, Key Activities, Key Resources, Key Partners, Cost Structure, and Revenue Streams....

Evgeniy Beloshytskiy's insight:

The whole issue of content marketing leaves me a bit breathless.  What is it?  Where does it fit? What am I already doing that fits into the definition of Content Marketing?  What do I need to do differently that I am not doing now?  Questions. Questions. Questions. This infographic is a good starting point - a foundation

Graeme & Jennifer Bowman's curator insight, June 23, 2013 7:21 AM

Not enough B2B firms are amplifying their influence through content marketing. And of those who are, not enough are ensuring that, firstly, the content is of genuine value to their target audience, secondly, the content is presented in a highly creative way, and, thirdly, the content is linked strongly to their company or personal brand. My advice: when they experience each piece of your content, make your audience go 'Wow!' for as many reasons as possible.

A DIY Guide to Making a Professional Business Video | Business 2 Community

A DIY Guide to Making a Professional Business Video | Business 2 Community | Маркетинг для малого бизнеса | Scoop.it

Quality is of paramount importance when producing a video for your business. A lackluster production, or just a poorly inspired concept for either a training or a sales enablement video can mean more than just a lost opportunity for business or growth, it can also be a public relations liability. Case in point is the now infamous Star Trek inspired training video created by the Internal Revenue Service. Produced to the tune of a 60 thousand dollar tax payer funded price tag, that video should serve as the gold standard of what NOT to do when creating internal training videos or marketing collateral that uses video....

VIDEO is a key component of the digital marketing mix, especially if it is posted on Youtube and embedded on a website, thereby enhancing SEO performance.

Good advice here. I particularly like the information regarding audio quality. There is no bigger turn-off in a corporate – or any other – video than poor sound.

How Business Blogging Can Build Your Credibility Offline | Business 2 Community

How Business Blogging Can Build Your Credibility Offline | Business 2 Community | Маркетинг для малого бизнеса | Scoop.it

When I speak to business owners about blogging, sometimes I hear, “Does anyone even read these things?” or even, “Why bother?” There are plenty of online benefits to posting high-quality content on your business blog regularly, and one of the most important is this: Information seekers and search engines will both recognize you and your website as authorities on the topic you’re blogging about. This can help attract new potential customers and increase their trust to purchase your product or service, even though you haven’t met in person. Networking, if done well, can also help you establish trusting relationships with potential customers. That is, as long as you attend networking events regularly, and cultivate long-term relationships with your fellow professionals. It’s your job to train your network to recognize your ideal customers and the unique problems that you solve in your business. That way, when members of your network come across these people, they can introduce you. This creates an optimal situation where you’re solving, not selling. Here are five ways that blending business blogging with in-person networking will help you attract new clients, grow your network, and make a meaningful contribution to those you meet....

Hot Social Media Trends in 2013? Blogs, Podcasts & Videos | Business 2 Community

Hot Social Media Trends in 2013? Blogs, Podcasts & Videos | Business 2 Community | Маркетинг для малого бизнеса | Scoop.it

Every year, Social Media Examiner comes out with its annual social media marketing report, based on feedback provided by thousands of marketers in North America and Europe mostly. One question specifically asks what marketers are most concerned about in social media, or wish to learn more about. In 2009 & 2010, social bookmarking was the key topic, Facebook was the big topic in 2011 while Google+ was the biggest one in 2012. What about 2013?

This year, 62% of marketers want to know more about… blogging! It may sound surprising at first, knowing blogging is not particularly recent compared to other social media or collaborative networks. Yet, since blogging is at the heart of any good content marketing strategy, knowing how content is becoming key thus explains the growing importance of this tactic in the marketing communications toolkit. It also ties in to ways of reaching out to influencers, specially when one realizes that 86% of social media influencers blog, according to Technorati.

Thus, if a brand wishes to reach out to industry leaders and influencers, or if you are a personal brand or company that wishes to establish thought-leadership and credibility, blogging is certainly a key tactic that contributes to a strong digital brand and content marketing approach. Somewhat ironic to see blogging coming back as a key tactic, after more than a decade in existence, but as some folks say: blogging provides the fire, while social media is the fuel to make it spread!...
