Interesting thining about this "new" funnel and the impact that online access has on today's purchasing decisions. Purchasers have so much more information at their fingertips! Reviews on search engines, via social media, etc. have such an impact on purchasing decisions...which certainly was not the case 100 years ago!

Most small business owners would have a certain level of awareness of the sales funnel as portrayed in the image above, but may not be aware that for the last 100 years or more, most marketing activities of small business owners have been directed at moving potential customers further down the funnel, to the point where they eventually take action and purchase something.

Most current marketing by small businesses still tends to be designed with this particular sales funnel in mind, but like everything else, what was relevant 100 years ago, may be less relevant in today's vastly different consumer environment.

This excellent article, suggests that this widely accepted model is now flawed and it provides a new sales funnel model that all business owners should seriously consider, before they commit resources to future marketing endeavours.

Rarely does a sales article put it so plainly, in clear steps, on how to open, support and close the sale, as well as overcome client concerns. I've had a fair amount of sales training in my day (and supported numerous sales teams). Although written rather technically, this is a good go-to article for what to do...when you need it! And, all small businesses need to make sales!
