Free Gartner Research: Digital Marketing Transit Map

Free Gartner Research: Digital Marketing Transit Map | Marketing the Manufacturer | Scoop.it

Explanation...

Using the Map

The Digital Marketing Transit Map is designed to identify the best sources for your needs and acquire systems that work well together. It will help you:

Identify the connections among business functions, application tracks and providers.Find additional research or structure questions about strategy and best practices as well as providers, products, and selection criteria.Mediate discussions between marketing and IT.

Interpreting the Map

Navigate the complexity of a fragmented and confusing digital marketing landscape. Elements of the map include:

Neighborhoods represent functional regions that can be thought of as practice areas within an organization.Tracks connect these regions, and can be thought of as application services that share common objectives and information.Stations represent interaction points that can be thought of as vendor and product categories that provide platforms and point solutions.Intersections represent transfer points where solutions may serve more than one business area.

I'm sorry we missed this while on vacation. This is a significant piece of work by Gartner, and we encourage you to click through to use the graphic's interactivity so as to understand the marketplace. This map may be better than the recent LUMAscape or Scott Brinker's graphic.

As a companion piece, you may want to view the recent Gartner webinar

"Making Sense of the Digital Marketing Landscape", where you can view it at http://my.gartner.com/portal/server.pt?open=512&objID=202&mode=2&PageID=5553&ref=webinar-rss&resId=2483515&srcId=1-3147426801&pcp=wb_gml

Thinking about new futures resulting from disruptive technologies drives consumer desire to arrive and live in an amazing new place. The hard work of moving our companies and all their people is underestimated.

Changes are coming more frequently. The number of people affected grows because markets are now global. The number of associated processes affected increases due to connections and interdependencies of services.

Think about the changes caused by dropping a pebble into a pond. We see the impact point and the ripples spread outward. Change today is more like a hail storm. We have to track and react to many objects, many impact points and many intersecting ripples. That's VUCA.

Is customer or employee loyalty lagging at your business these days? So what right? I can always find more customers, and there are millions of people out of work, so it's easy to find workers. True but replenishing the stock of either will cost more than keeping the ones you have.

Davies Molding LLC's insight:

Asking for feedback is one of the most valuable ways to show customers you're interested in them; however, more important than asking is actually taking action on their comments, then letting them know what you've done.

So many businesses focus on growth that they forget the importance and costs of replacing employees and customers. The increasing use of social media and search may turn unhappy employees and customers into vocal detractors competing with your marketing efforts. Loyalty is harder now that new voices can readily get the ear of your target audience.
