SEO Isn't What You Think It Is Or What It Used To Be

SEO Isn't What You Think It Is Or What It Used To Be | Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Your site must appeal to people.

From the original article on FastCompany: "Both the Panda and Penguin updates contained very clear messages for marketers: stop focusing on technology and tricks and start focusing on people. If your website appeals to people, it will appeal to Google's algorithms too.

But the Panda and Penguin messages go deeper. With them, the search engines are openly acknowledging that a website isn't the only place on the Web that a brand needs to maintain a strong presence.

The interactive exchanges that people have with each other and with the brand--online--are happening in the social media channel, and the search engines are placing an increasing importance on how these conversations influence their views on brands and how their websites should rank.

This means that a brand can no longer rely on a well-optimized website to earn Google's attention.

A brand must be a conversationalist, going where the people are and engaging them in discussion, and by doing that earn a wonderful reputation.

Smart brands are doing this by fully leveraging each social channels particular properties".

BufferApp Gets Better With ReTweet Scheduler

BufferApp Gets Better With ReTweet Scheduler | Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
One of the most asked features of Buffer is a way to schedule retweets. With today's brand new update you can now schedule retweets from the web and any mobile device:
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Cool Innovation
I stopped using Bufferapp because I didn't feel as immediate to my social networks when I used the app, but I am a department of ONE. If I was managing a team again BufferApp would be invaluabe. Just got more invluable too since it is possible to schedule retweets now.

I love using BufferApp to spread out my tweets for the day because I'm usually finding awesome content either late at night or first thing in the morning! It's a cool way to form a base for my social sharing - a few tweets / posts just in case I don't have time to do it throughout the day =)

Scoop.it's New Platform Rocks

Scoop.it's New Platform Rocks | Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE..[San Francisco, CA -- December 11, 2012] -- Scoop.it, a leading social media and content curation platform for professionals and businesses, recently announced it’s platform redesign, elements of which focus...
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Love the new Scoop.it UI because:

http://www.scoop.it/u/martin-marty-smith Macro View Rocks.

* More like a magazine now.

* Macro view organized by members not alpha (BETTER).

* More URL control (careful with this).

* Better colors (white instead of black makes things pop better).

* Colors = create great emphasis on visuals.

* More feedback information easier to find.

* More "infinite waterfall" feel.

* Better display of comments [more of a conversation now].

* Easier to manage, display and curate MORE feeds.

There are other cool things about the new UI I am forgetting (its early and no breakfast yet :). Will keep adding to this list, but New Scoop.it UI ROCKS.

One other important note. Scoop.it team deserves KUDOS too. They worked hard to get feedback and include the community in their change and did a great job.

I've been through some of these big changes and bet not many Scoopers have slept much lately. Go home, get some sleep, Merry Christmas and GREAT JOB!
