Here's a snack to get your started on this Monday. This is a very quick post with great graphics that show which parts of the brain are activated through storytelling, and which parts of the brain are activated with data.


The graphics are great. What I really like is that the different areas of the brain are named, along with their function.


Even better, there's a link to an infographic with more detail. Frankly, I like the graphics in the post more than the infographic. But I know you'll enjoy both.

I just watched this powerful video of Monica Lewinsky's TED talk and I was riveted. As she shares bits and pieces of her story, she weaves together what her story can mean for us individually, and as a culture.


Lewinsky bravely touches on storytelling ethics, our gleeful perpetuation of dark stories that lead to great harm, how to use stories to build empathy, and taking control of your own narrative.


The business of storytelling -- and business storytelling -- has an underside. Lewinsky sheds light in the dark and shows us a way home. Watch this video now -- you'll be glad you did. It will make you a far better and more humane storyteller IMHO.

While conversions are tantamount to growth and revenue, the blog might not be the best place to measure them. There are other points along the journey from curious to customer that are better measured in terms of direct ROI. If you imagine this journey as a funnel, the blog is near the top, trying to collect as many eyeballs and as much interest as possible. Conversions tend to happen much later on in the process, further down the funnel, like in this example from Moz.
