Video is the future for marketing.  Making episodes rather than stand alone videos will be key.  I can see a YouTube video campaign where the prospect is led, video, by video, through the buying process.  Who does this well right now?

Approximately two years after Google first clamped down on user privacy and secure search, the change has begun to have severe effects on how SEO professionals and content marketers work.

On 18 October 2011, search engine giant Google announced their decision to make SSL search the default for signed-in users. In humanoid terms, a user’s search queries on Google are to be kept private resulting in organic (or natural) search listings which no longer include information regarding each individual query. Rather, the term “(not provided”) appears in place of the user’s original search query. Panic.

For online marketers, this changes everything about the way in which they report and analyse data. Traditionally, marketers have relied heavily on the keyword queries compiled in Google Analytics reports in order to detect keywords that drive high user traffic to a website and in turn identify valuable keywords themes for content creators.

This infographic offers some very good insights into how we can increase our online influence. It's a fact that most people are not aware of content marketing and how it's performed. Gone are the days when content was created for content's sake serving the SEO managers and Google's algorithms.

Now, when Google itself has made it very clear that quality content is what it values, people are trying to learn content marketing.  But, there is a huge gap between what should be done and the current practices in the industry. So, the very first tip is extremely valuable and it says that we should stop creating boring content. Content should be interesting and informative and should bring some value for the reader.

Now, the next step is to find what people are looking for so that we can prepare the right strategy for our content marketing campaigns. If we are able to fill up our bucket with right questions and current problems, we are already on the path of success. We should visit forums and use social analytics tools to know the conversation taking place on social channels. Platforms such as Quora are extremely valuable tools to know what people are actually looking for in your domain. Once we have this insight, things become easier for us.

The next thing is to find relevant content that can meet the need of people. In other words, content should be used to serve people, if we want to make it visible and valuable.

Next, they are asking us to be consistent and it's very important. They are many individuals and companies, who start very good content marketing campaigns, but stop it in the midway and then all their efforts are wasted and they loose their followers.

The other big mistake people commit is to treat their followers as a commodity. They bombard them with marketing stuff without paying heed to their human aspects and emotions. It's obvious that it's not liked by the masses. They reject such a company or individual, who always talks about himself...So start communicating through your content. It will take you far and will always keep you in business.

Rosie Price's insight:

Marty's fortune telling is this: users will be highly segmented and retargeted to.  How does this affect the everyday marketer, especially one without expensive analytics software?  Know your customer personas and create campaigns (all the way down to specific landing pages) tailored to the persona.  Take small steps with audience retargeting  through Facebook.  Retargeting options are coming to Facebook that won't force you to go through FBX (Facebook Ad Exchange).
