As I write this column, the library is actually closed due to inclement weather — but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying all that the library has to offer. If you have an Internet connection, you have access to ebooks, eaudiobooks, evideos, downloadable music, digital magazines, articles, online classes and so much more.
The Massachusetts Library System (MLS), in conjunction with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, is conducting a pilot program known as the MA eBook Project to study the concept of sharing an electronic collection with libraries statewide.
“We’re constantly exploring new digital services that will meet the diverse needs of our patrons and millennials,” said Julie VanHoose, digital services manager for the library system. “Hoopla digital’s content ranges from entertainment to educational to children’s programs, so there’s something for everyone. Patrons only need a library card to get started, and all content is free of charge. It’s also digital, so there is no waiting period for popular titles, and hoopla’s automatic return means no late fees.”
