Let's be honest: real sustainability may not make business sense

Let's be honest: real sustainability may not make business sense | Good ol´ marketing (Passion for Noble Causes) Well Being Through Social Marketing | Scoop.it

Considerations such as 'what do you really care about' and 'who do you serve' should be drivers of sustainability, not profit (People, profit & planet – do they contradict each other when it comes to #business?

Daniel Jorge Guerra's insight:

It´s always healthy to do a reality check, but in my point of view sustainabilty should not be seen as a transaction but as a redefinition of how and maybe even what you produce/sale. I like the analogy of the person not going green for profit, nevertheless the whole thing is that many corporations are single objective oriented (profit), where as humans are not in their basic human form..very interesting article

What nonprofits can learn from Bank of America's cause-related marketing program

What nonprofits can learn from Bank of America's cause-related marketing program | Good ol´ marketing (Passion for Noble Causes) Well Being Through Social Marketing | Scoop.it
Bank of America has emerged from the global financial crisis with a streamlined cause marketing and sponsorship program.

Daniel Jorge Guerra's insight:
For purist sounds at times cynical the view of "sponsorship as a marketing tool", but isn´t that the purpose of sponsorship ? It doesen't sound cynical viewed in net commercial terms. if it engages and supports it is effective and fulfills a purpose. Personally I am anti war. But am pro the veterans who suffer being sent to conflicts they really did not start. The way BOA combine sponsorship , reputation and even "partiorism" is very intelligent Social Marketing strategy.

Patagonia is set to explore whether it can survive in a "responsible economy" whereby mass consumption is drastically reduced as society begins to operate within tighter resource limits.
Daniel Jorge Guerra's insight:

It takes a lot of courage to propose this philosphy. Even though at a zen-non commercial point of view I agree, it see, risky within the business realm...unless you are damn sure your product is indispensable, and not focused on the false creation of desire.. If it's a PR /MKT gimmick it'll make a buzz , but hace some antagonists for sure
