Curation is More Than Integration

Curation is More Than Integration | The Marketing Communications ToolBox | Scoop.it
The term “Curation” doesn’t yet score a hit in the archive of Scott Adam’s Dilbert cartoons, which means it’s still living the short half-life between entering the pop management lexicon and becoming the object of...
toolbox's insight:

Curation has more to do with the multi-participant communications flowing in the stream of social media conversation. The original broadcast model of marketing communications required definition only in terms of the message. The novel interactions of the original dot com world were contextualized by knowledge of the customer. Now, marketing communications must be framed by the conversation, and not just by the marketer, but by all the parties to the conversation. This requires curation.

toolbox's insight:

An interesting concept - an online "press room" to centralize, distribute and track press releases. We like the fact that the service is available on a "one off" basis as well.

The Shift to Visual Social Media

The Shift to Visual Social Media | The Marketing Communications ToolBox | Scoop.it
toolbox's insight:

There is no denying that a massive shift has happened in the way we communicate online, especially with Social Media.  We are now, in reality, using Visual Social Media to share our message. What began with websites, became dynamic websites or “blogs”.  The humble Blog attracted interaction, comments and community-building around posts or articles of 500-1000+ words in length. It doesn't matter if your focus is marketing, community building or knowledge management, leveraging the power of visuals as entry points to further dialog is fast becoming a key strategic tool.

The Drivers Of Brand Storytelling Strategy

The Drivers Of Brand Storytelling Strategy | The Marketing Communications ToolBox | Scoop.it

Customers own the story of the brand now. What brands say is far less important than what brands actually do to serve the well being of the faithful. Whereas before, the brand conversation was based on delivery and interruption, successful brand conversations are now participatory in ever more technology driven channels.

toolbox's insight:

An article that goes a long way in de-mystifying brand storytelling!

I particularly like the emphasis on brand storytelling creating deep affinity if done right, that chemistry is part of the equation, and that it is a strategic imperative, not a promotional tactic.
