Laura Candelaria's insight:
Only UK but still an interesting statistic. Not sure I trust the number completely, the article doesn't list what the survey asked. And "don't plan" is very different than "WON'T" and can't possibly account for it happening accidentally.

These teachers see the internet and digital technologies such as social networking sites, cell phones and texting, generally facilitating teens’ personal expression and creativity, broadening the audience for their written material, and encouraging teens to write more often in more formats than may have been the case in prior generations. At the same time, they describe the unique challenges of teaching writing in the digital age, including the “creep” of informal style into formal writing assignments and the need to better educate students about issues such as plagiarism and fair use.

The digital revolution has turned countless businesses and business partnerships on their heads—not the least of which is the relationship between advertisers and their agencies. For the former, digital solves a problem that has dogged the industry since the days of John Wanamaker and his oft-quoted observation: “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don’t know which half.” Advertisers now have the ability to know whether they are targeting the right person in the right place at the right time—a powerful capability.
For agencies, however, this capability comes at a price. The almost limitless choices and flexibility related to the timing, placement, and format of digital ads inject multiple layers of complexity—and, often, inefficiency—into digital-marketing operations. With more than 20 potential intermediaries between advertisers and publishers today, the value chain has morphed into a maze of myriad associations and solutions. Complexity too often reigns, and it’s not surprising that agencies are wasting far too many resources and way too much time—in an age when both are in short supply.

Great infographic, love the color use. Also an interesting look at the consulting business. I've worked for two companies that have hired an outside consultant. One had lackluster results, the other was fantastic - great ideas, data rich insights, strong focus on not only results but most effective way to get them. Would love to (one day) try getting deeper into that side of the business.
"By tracking with an AdID as opposed to cookies, the data is supposedly more anonymous and protects the user's privacy." Hmmm....sounds promising but I'm not sure I understand how this method is more anonymous. And the article is totally based on speculation, from a single anonymous sourse.

Steve Jobs liked to say that it’s not enough to kill bad ideas, you have to kill good ones too.
Marketing strategy is particularly difficult because the rules have changed. A generation ago, brands mostly strove to create buzz and “drive awareness,” now they need to build compelling experiences that keep consumers engaged.
However, the old tasks have not gone away. We still need to run TV ads and in-store promotions, man conference booths and hand out brochures, but now on top of that we have a whole new world of algorithms, apps and devices to master. To meet the new challenges, we need a new strategic approach, a new mindset and new organizations.
The above chart shows the three core brand objectives aligned with six tactical strategies. Mere platitudes and a “one size fits all” approach will not do, so once we’ve identified a particular area of need, we want to focus on building an approach designed for that specific task, rather than chasing the latest fad.
