Weird shit in historic newspapers: Bilingual Seeing-Eye Dog

Weird shit in historic newspapers: Bilingual Seeing-Eye Dog | Marketing | Scoop.it

An early story about a working animal companion. R.W. Beath became aware of the "seeing eye movement" in America and obtained a dog from a Trappist monastery. But the dog did not respond to any commands (not a quality you want in a guide dog, methinks). Beath discovered that the dog understood only French and, over the next two weeks, he taught Mitzi English commands. Source: Calgary Herald 18 March 1935.
