Social Strategy and Social Media Trends | Social Media Today | Marketing Automation | Scoop.it

There are 3 social media trends that you need to be aware of to guide your strategy:

- The more content that flows through each network the more niche you need to be to attract your audience
- Social brands are becoming personal in order to win customers, engage employees and innovate
- Customer engagement is a priority but without communities it is just social media broadcasting

So what are you going to do about it?...

CMOs to Rein in Traditional Ad Spend, Press on With Digital Marketing - Marketing Charts

CMOs to Rein in Traditional Ad Spend, Press on With Digital Marketing - Marketing Charts | Marketing Automation | Scoop.it

Despite consumer and marketer beliefs that traditional media advertising on the whole is more effective than online advertising, marketers continue to shift budgets away from traditional media and towards digital marketing channels, finds Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in its latest installment of The CMO Survey. In this latest survey, CMOs forecast a 2.7% decline in traditional advertising spend over the next 12 months, after predicting a 1.9% decrease in August 2012, an 0.8% decrease in February 2012, and a 1.3% increase in August 2011.

5 Free Excel Add-Ins to Help Digital Marketers Decipher Big Data - ClickZ

5 Free Excel Add-Ins to Help Digital Marketers Decipher Big Data - ClickZ | Marketing Automation | Scoop.it

Summary...

To turn your raw data into an asset, many powerful add-ins have been built to plug in to Excel.

GeoFlow for 3D geographic visualization: The Excel team just released a new free Excel add-in called GeoFlow that displays geographic data using Bing Maps to tell your story in a 3D visualization. The visualizations attract attention, are easily understood, and can even be incorporated into dashboards.PowerPivot and Power View for massive data crunching: Another key tool in Excel is PowerPivot, included with Excel 2010 and 2013. PowerPivot is pivot tables on steroids. PowerPivot can load even the largest data sets from almost any source and process this massive amount of data in seconds. After the initial learning curve, it's surprisingly lightweight.Bing Ads Intelligence for rich PPC data: Need keyword ideas or bid estimates by position? Bing Ads intelligence, a free add-in from Bing Ads, can give you the number of searches per search term, cost-per-click data, keyword ideas, age/gender data, and even more.Excellent Analytics pulls in analytics data directly into Excel: Spending too much time on reports? Excellent Analytics lets you pull Google Analytics data directly into Excel. There is a free, open-source version that has been downloaded tens of thousands of times by marketers looking to automate reporting.SeoTools for Excel for robust SEO-specific tasks: Last but not least is a free set of SEO tools, fittingly called SeoTools for Excel. This donation-supported toolset adds many SEO-specific tasks to the Excel ribbon. Mitch Monsen from WhiteFireSEO says, "It has one of the most robust feature sets I've seen in an extension, and Nielsen is updating it constantly. It has mind-boggling scraping capabilities (get a proxy if you plan on using them a lot) and a ton of on-page analysis tools."

THIS IS GREAT STUFF!!!! We're all Excel jockeys, and this is a tremendous collection of Excel add-ons to make our lives easier. Look: it's certainly NOT a Big Data solution...more like a Little Data solution, but that's OK as these add-ons will be very helpful. We're looking forward to jumping into Excellent Analytics.

Which Social Channels are Effective For B2B Advertising? - Leadformix

Which Social Channels are Effective For B2B Advertising? - Leadformix | Marketing Automation | Scoop.it
Social media advertising is one way to engage with prospects. LeadFormix help select the social channels advertisers should consider in their advertising mix.

Condensed...

Here is our pick of the social channels B2B advertisers should consider in their advertising mix:

LinkedIn: With 200 million users in over 200 countries, LinkedIn is a powerhouse for B2B advertisers. Its ability to target niche professional groups, who actively maintain their profiles and its granular targeting options make it an excellent advertising and lead generation platform. Companies can track conversations and identify warm prospects that are discussing a potential purchase related to their line of business.Facebook: The reach of Facebook is phenomenal. It has 1.11 billion users, 50% of whom log in at least once a day. Facebook’s ad platform is a low-cost opportunity for B2B companies to advertise their brand and products. Facebook ads can take the form of display ads, sponsored stories, promoted posts or sponsored apps. Companies can target their ads by geography, age, gender or most valuably by interests.Twitter: A recent study found that Twitter users visit B2B tech brand sites at a higher rate (59%) compared to average Internet users (40%) and that their conversion rate is higher. Also B2B brands who invested in Twitter ads saw an average of $14 CPL (cost-per-lead) for quality conversions.

We're not on the same page:

1) LinkedIn: Yes.

2) Facebook: No

3) Twitter: Yes, especially to take advantage of their new Lead Generation cards.

Our advice: stick with LinkedIn and Twitter's new program. Get that down, then look to other programs. And search under our Filter for social advertising for more information.

Automation Comes to Content Marketing - DigiDay

Automation Comes to Content Marketing - DigiDay | Marketing Automation | Scoop.it
There's a raft of technology companies rising up to help brands automate pieces of brand content.

Excerpt...

Content marketing, the catch-all phrase for brands becoming publishers, has created a new set of tech startups looking to cash in by bringing efficiency to the process.

A raft of technology companies has sprung up to help brands automate pieces of brand content. There are companies like Contently and Percolate, which want to apply technology on the content-creation side. Contently taps freelancers to help brands create content. Percolate helps brands create and find content to share across the social Web. Then there are the distributors, such as Taboola or Outbrain, that let brands generate traffic to a brand’s piece of content via other sites. The bet all are making is that some degree of tech is needed to make this scale.
