NEW Cisco Research Reveals Hyper-relevance as Key to Winning the Digital Consumer | Marketing and Creative Services | Scoop.it
Retailers who offer Internet of Everything experiences can capture a 15.6 percent profit improvement
Wendy Flanagan's insight:

"The fifth annual Cisco® Consulting Services retail survey found that most shoppers want innovations that improve convenience and efficiency, extending beyond personalization into hyper-relevance. Hyper-relevance delivers value—such as greater savings, efficiency, or engagement—in real time throughout the shopping lifecycle, using analytics to determine the experience that best suits the customer’s context (where he is, what she is looking to accomplish in that moment)." #Cisco #retail

Dear {Name}: Email Marketing Relevant As Ever | Marketing and Creative Services | Scoop.it

Marketers shouldn’t count out email—not by a long shot. Thanks to mobile-responsive design and advances in personalization, email has retained its importance for brand-building, even among tech- and social-savvy Millennials, according to a new Adobe Campaign survey of 400 U.S. white-collar workers.

Wendy Flanagan's insight:

"The survey found nine out of 10 consumers constantly check their personal email from work and their work email at home; on average, they spend over six hours each week day on email."

37 Essential WordPress Plugins You Should Know (and Install If You Haven’t Already) | Marketing and Creative Services | Scoop.it
While WordPress offers a ton of features and flexibility, there is still a lot of functionality missing from the core software. The best way to fill in the missing pieces, of course, is to get yourself the right plugins.
Plugins offer all kinds of customization for site admins, however, with almost 40,000 options to choose from it the WordPress Plugin Directory, not to mention all the premium products available, it can be difficult sorting the good from the, well, not so good.

Selling With Story -- How To Ask For The Sale

Selling With Story -- How To Ask For The Sale | Marketing and Creative Services | Scoop.it
Today’s post is part three of a transcript from my recent interview on the Voice America Business Channel show ‘Story Powered’ hosted by Lianne Picot.

Karen Dietz's curator insight, August 6, 7:50 PM

What a great post. Here two of my business storytelling colleagues (Lianne Picot interviews Shawn Callahan) talk about successfully using storytelling in sales. It's the last of a 4 part series, and there's a link to the other interviews with Shawn in the article.

What I love about this installment is that it focuses on closing the sale. I get this question all the time -- how do I use stories to close the sale?

As Shawn says -- you don't. It is very important know when to NOT tell a story. This is one of those moments. He explains all about it in the article.

Shawn shares a lot of wisdom in this post. It's also a podcast you can download and listen to. Go dig into it now.

This review was written by Karen Dietz for her curated content on business storytelling at www.scoop.it/t/just-story-it

Miklos Szilagyi's curator insight, August 7, 3:14 AM

"...You tell the stories and say, “And imagine if we could do that” or “Imagine if we could scale that across your entire organisation”. You want the ability for people to go, “That’s the end point I want to get to”. But when you’re asking, when you’re really asking for the business, I think it’s the time to be a bit quiet, to sit there and wait. I think it’s a key thing... " - Great...:-))) It's very solution-focused by the way...:-))))

Also, Karen Dietz comments it (I like her posts, shares too...):

Postage Up 2% on April 26

Postage Up 2% on April 26 | Marketing and Creative Services | Scoop.it
The U.S. Postal Service wasted no time in requesting a postal rate hike. On Thursday, USPS filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission for a nearly 2 percent increase to take place on April 26. The timing for the inflation-based increase appears to coincide with the expiration of its exigent rate increase, which the PRC says USPS needs to stop after it brings in the $3.2 billion meant to help make up for losses during the Great Recession. The USPS is suing the PRC regarding this $3.2 billion limit.

I Love You, Too - Using Context to Avoid Creepy CRM | Marketing and Creative Services | Scoop.it
Ah yes, young love. The ever-awkward stages of early flirtation, romance, and finally, love. But the issue of who says "I love you" first is always one of the most difficult, make-or-break moments of a relationship. In the same way, transcending simple CRM relationships can be difficult in marketing, and instead of "I love you," marketers can sometimes hear the dreaded "Eww, that's creepy!"
