Note from Pat: Consultants benefit from mentors - and so do business owners.  Think about it.  How would your own performance benefit in the short and long-term with the right mentor OR even an advisory board that includes people with expertise in key areas like legal, finance, operations, sales/marketing etc.?

Note from Pat: An interesting article - my response to the question is "...when you identify a weakness or see an opportunity to improve."  A good consultant will invest the time to look around and offer recommendations - and then you can determine whether or not to hire the consultant based on the  recommendations.  

 

Here's the deal - a set of fresh eyes, the insight of an experienced professional that can identiffy ways to better leverage your resources...these are valuable assets that keep your company constantly innovating, pushing to be better rather than "doing it the same way we've always done it."
