Filmmaker and educator David Puttnam photographed a lush Irish landscape with his tablet computer before filming his presentation for a forum on mobile learning and policy at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 20 February.

Holding his tablet to the camera, he reminded the audience that the power to reach out to the world was now at everyone’s fingertips. From his home in Ireland, he was not only able to film his surroundings, but also lecture students in Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.

How to Set Goals {Achieving Goals} - Kids Activities Blog | marked for sharing | Scoop.it

Setting goals and knowing the skills for achieving them is an important life skill. Teaching kids about goals from an early age can boost their confidence and help them face bigger challenges later in life with a calm and methodical approach. Having something to work towards provides a sense of purpose, and learning how to deal with setbacks on the path to achieving a goal will also help kids to develop lifelong skills in dealing with stress and challenges.

Alan November: How Teachers and Tech Can Let Students Take Control | MindShift

Alan November: How Teachers and Tech Can Let Students Take Control | MindShift | marked for sharing | Scoop.it

Students and teachers alike have been brought up in an educational system that mimics an antiquated job market. The teacher is the boss, managing the work of his student workers who have to produce goods that meet approval, he said. But many people fear that system no longer serves students headed toward a less certain future, one that could necessitate that a student be able to define and create her own job.

Interesting article. I particularly like this - “The real revolution is information and global communication, not technology,” November said. Technology is merely the means to access the information and share it in community.
