Maths Apps are the ones most frequently searched for on this site. I sometimes think that if I had some of these apps I would have taken a greater interest in Maths as a kid. It was not that I was disinterested I just missed some of the basics. With some of these game based apps at least students can be engaged long enough to discovery some of the basic maths concepts.

After 27 years of teaching Gerald Conti said it was time to call it quits, but this New York school teacher didn’t retire because he feels old, he said he was retiring because he said teaching is not the same.
Instead of teaching students about things such as the New Deal, legislators have failed teachers by focusing more on testing than on learning.
Conti, 62, posted his resignation letter on Facebook, along with a photo of Porky Pig saying “That’s All Folks!”

Enriched Lesson DeliveryWhat is Enriched Lesson Instruction? Direct instruction is a general term for the explicit teaching of a skill-set usinglectures or demonstrations of the material, rather than exploratory models such asinquiry-based learning.
Here's how it works: In a direct instruction lesson: the teacher usually spends some time lecturing; then the teacher guides the students through a complex problem, with the problem broken down into simple steps; then the students are given, one by one, the simple steps to carry out on their own; finally, the students are given one or many sample problems to accomplish on their own.

From the beginning, a major challenge of working with iPads is actually working with iPads. Unlike a computer, there are no multi-user logins, no file structures, and no easy way to share these devices with multiple students. Additionally, in elementary classrooms the challenge becomes even more difficult. Students don't have email addresses. The Terms of Service of many cloud storage options preclude those under the age of 13 from having an account, and devices are often shared. So how can teachers easily distribute content under these circumstances? Delete the scoop?

I was at the same conference of course and viewed it a bit differently. The attendees are self-selected from an audience consisting almost entirely of instructors (people outside this community were prohibited from attending). The presentations and discussion seemed to me to be repeated instances of "please please please let MOOCs be whatever they are so long as they don't touch the sacred role of instruction." One September morning in 2003, a group of engineers gathered for a marathon brainstorming session at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, Calif. Their intent was ambitious; they wanted to dream up a new way to land spacecraft on Mars. The meeting stretched to three days of scribbling options on whiteboards, and the solution they came to for landing the SUV-sized rover Curiosity was radical. When Curiosity was 10 kilometres above ground, a contraption they called a sky crane would detach. Then rocket engines would slow the crane to 3 kmh, so it almost hovered above ground as it gently lowered the rover on cables to the ground before flying off and crash landing a safe distance away.

Nearpod is a nice service for delivering lessons, quizzes, and polls to students through iPads. Nearpod recently introduced a new option calledNearpod Homework. Like the original Nearpod, Nearpod Homework allows you to distribute presentations and quizzes to your students' iPads. The neat feature of Nearpod Homework is that it allows students to work through presentations and quizzes at their own pace in your classroom or at home.
