Tony Blair's 10 principles for conflict resolution

Tony Blair's 10 principles for conflict resolution | Marc Fong | Scoop.it

“Realise that for both sides resolving the conflict is a journey, a process, not an event.  Each side takes time to leave the past behind.“  Most mediations follow a familiar pattern – they start, despite the best efforts of the mediator to get everyone to concentrate on what it will take to resolve the matter, with a rehearsal of all the history of the dispute and why each party thinks the other is wrong.  For most of the day, resolution appears unlikely.  Then, once the parties have got off their chests what they needed to say, and as the clock ticks towards the end of the day, they begin to focus on resolution rather than dispute and the final hour is usually when the real business is done.

Tom Cruise's $50 Million Tabloid Lawsuit Moves To Private Mediation

Taking their issues to private mediation was probably the correct decision to make. By doing that, their affairs will remain private and confidential. Instead of the two sides threatening to reveal unflattering information about the other, they can work on resolving their issues. It will all them to focus more on the issues on hand than attempting to expose one another to the public. Cruise's lawsuit must be attempting to prove that his name or reputation was slandered by the article Touch and Life & Style magazine published. Either member may or may not have a valid point. The mediator or mediators will have to be well informed about both parties and their needs. I must really not pay attention to celebrity gossip, I had no idea that Cruise had a child, is 50 years old, and was married.
