Everglades National Park Case Study

Matthew Yao's insight:

The information posted in this case study is specifically about the Flordia Everglades. Namely, the climate, soil and water quality, human caused issues facing this biome, and other unique information. The case study details how human induced impacts on mangrove swamps has changed the climate and water quality of the Everglades. The source is very reliale because it lists informaton that is cited from other sources and references that it lists at the end of the case study. AAA, the endorser of the case study, stands for American Association for the Advancement of Science, an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson, and professional association.

Mangrove Swamp: Importance to Humans

Matthew Yao's insight:

This magazine article is relevant because of the currency of the article. The article was posted in the summer of 2011. It's relevance is the importance it states that mangrove swamps have for humans. These unique ecosystems are capable of storing four times more carbon per acre than nearly any other tropical forest on Earth and may even be able to protect island coasts from earthquake damage. The article comes from a very credible magazine called American Forests whose aim is to to help people plant and care for trees for ecosystem restoration and healthier communities.
