"I fear however, that many professionals choose to pursue a career in HR to utilize their soft skills or the desire for a quick route to a corporate job.

How Music Can Boost Our Workouts

How Music Can Boost Our Workouts | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Researchers and exercisers have long known, of course, that listening to music alters the experience of exercising. Earlier studies have shown, for instance, that briskly paced music tends to inspire equally briskly paced workouts, and that music also can distract and calm nervous competitors before a race or other high-pressure situation, improving their subsequent performance.

3D printed eye cells could one day cure blindness

3D printed eye cells could one day cure blindness | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Researchers have actually printed viable retina cells using an inkjet printer.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

"At the University of Cambridge, researchers have pulled off something of a 3D printing coup. Using lab rats, they’ve printed living central nervous system cells for the very first time. Led by professor Keith Martin, the team actually printed viable retina cells, using an inkjet printer, of all things. The printer was able to first print a layer of retinal ganglion cells and then a layer of glial cells on top of them, all while keeping the tiny structures vital. In doing so, the Cambridge research team was able to prove that eyes and their internal structures can someday be 3D-printed for surgical purposes."

Ally Fogg: To single out Turing is to say all the other persecuted gay men are not so deserving of justice because they were less exceptional
Carlos Fosca's insight:

Video Games Provide Learning, Health And Social Benefits, Review Finds

Video games, including the violent shooter games which are found to be good and bad in various studies, may boost children's learning, health and social skills, according to a review of research published in the American Psychologist.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

Thicker brain sections appear associated with belief of importance of religion

Thicker brain sections appear associated with belief of importance of religion | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
The importance of religion or spirituality to a person appears to be associated with the thickness of certain brain regions, according to a study by Lisa Miller, Ph.D., of Columbia University, New York, and colleagues.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

"Study findings indicate that importance of religion or spirituality, but not the frequency of church attendance, was associated with thicker cortices in some regions of the brain. Also, the effects of the importance of religion or spirituality on cortical thickness were stronger in the group at high familial risk for depression than in the low-risk group, especially in a brain region where a thinner cortex may be associated with a familial risk for developing depressive illness."
