The Future of Online Education Is on Campus

The Future of Online Education Is on Campus | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Coursera and Udacity are known for giving education away for free online. But now they're finding there's money to be made in the classroom.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be. | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

Curation is a growing need in organizations, and as such, a growing competency for those focused on worker performance. At the same time, the vision of what this competency looks like in practice is cloudy. How will what we do look different when we add curation to our skill sets?

Ahora si entendí qué es curation !!!

Marisol Araya Fonseca's curator insight, February 1, 12:28 PM

Sure it is!!  Last week I showed my students how to scoopit.  I thought that since they seem to love Facebook, Scoopit was going to be a wow experience for them.  However, contrary to my expectations most of them did not show a real interest, or at least the kind of interest I expected.  What a pain!  Maybe it is a matter of time, culture, love for reading and writing, etc.  From a group of 12 youngers, only 2 of them said:  Thanks teacher, I like it!  Well... I will keep on trying...

AraceliGF's curator insight, February 9, 4:40 AM

Good article on content curation. So important nowadays ,with so much information around us, we need tools to process it (such as netvibes, diigo, delicious, feedly, etc.)

robyns tut's curator insight, September 30, 2013 6:43 AM

This is interesting becauswe games are becoming more and more real, to the point where the brain cannot tell the difference between real life and video games. video games are bad for people with certain medical conditions, why are they helping in this case. Also could explore results off gaming too much.   -Tanah

Alzheimer's brain scan advances | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Pioneering brain imaging that can detect the build-up of destructive proteins linked to Alzheimer's has been developed by Japanese scientists.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

.."Alzheimer's disease is a problem for researchers trying to come up with a cure. The brain starts to die years before any symptoms are detected, which means drugs are probably given too late. The technology, reported in the journal Neuron, can identify inside a living brain clumps of a protein called tau that is closely linked to the disease..."

The Library of the Future (Part 3): Because We’re Right! .

The Library of the Future (Part 3): Because We’re Right! . | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

In my first post in this series, The Library of the Future (Part 1): A Privatised Future?, I raised concerns that the library of the future would be based on privatisation of the library infrastructure and a deterioration in the working conditions for those working in libraries. The second post, The Library of the Future (Part 2): Services for the Self-Motivated Middle Classes?, suggested that the moves from the physical environment and face-to-face interactions t use of networked technologies and engagement in virtual spaces could result in a devalued experiences for those unable or unwilling to make use of such networked technologies, with the benefits being gained by sectors who least need such external support.

Carlos Fosca's insight:

This post considers that the hyperlinked library unquestionably provides a model for the future and the need is to learn from the early adopters of hyperlinked libraries and share best practices.
