Ignacio Cirac: «Google quiere construir el primer ordenador cuántico»

Ignacio Cirac: «Google quiere construir el primer ordenador cuántico» | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

The Human Impact Of The Industrial Internet Of Things

The Human Impact Of The Industrial Internet Of Things | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Will digital technology be positive for workers and jobs? Amid today’s public debate about the consequences of artificial intelligence and advanced robotics, along comes the industrial Internet of things (IIoT). Little understood but potentially very significant for multiple industry sectors, this next wave of technology will create more jobs than it will destroy, according to the majority of business leaders Accenture has surveyed.

Being a Better Online Reader

Being a Better Online Reader | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Certainly, as we turn to online reading, the physiology of the reading process itself shifts; we don’t read the same way online as we do on paper. Anne Mangen, a professor at the National Centre for Reading Education and Research at the University of Stavanger, in Norway, points out that reading is always an interaction between a person and a technology, be it a computer or an e-reader or even a bound book.

A very interesting read.

Marja Oilinki's curator insight, January 24, 11:44 AM

Project Hololens: Microsoft's Audacious Plan to Make Anywhere a Holodeck | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Hololens is no Oculus. First, it's untethered. Everything is in the headset; that includes a CPU, a GPU, and something Microsoft is calling a Holographic Processor. HPU? Also, this isn't about throwing you into some VR screen-in-front-of-your-face cave. Hololens is about putting virtual things all over your real life, like Google Glass but somehow uglier and bigger but also better better. Exactly the experience we're hoping to see with the mysterious Magic Leap.

| Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

Why the modern world is bad for your brain

Why the modern world is bad for your brain | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Earl Miller, a neuroscientist at MIT and one of the world experts on divided attention, says that our brains are “not wired to multitask well… When people think they’re multitasking, they’re actually just switching from one task to another very rapidly. And every time they do, there’s a cognitive cost in doing so.” So we’re not actually keeping a lot of balls in the air like an expert juggler; we’re more like a bad amateur plate spinner, frantically switching from one task to another, ignoring the one that is not right in front of us but worried it will come crashing down any minute. Even though we think we’re getting a lot done, ironically, multitasking makes us demonstrably less efficient.

Debunking Disruptive Innovation – Why Disruptive Innovation is NOT a Strategy

Debunking Disruptive Innovation – Why Disruptive Innovation is NOT a Strategy | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

"In today’s innovation-obsessed world, “disruption” encapsulates the Holy Grail.  Incremental and sustaining innovations are the all-too-often overlooked steps that lead you there.  Christensen’s theory is fundamentally about technologiesand products.  The real world rewards those who build new business models, extend brands, create new channels, find new markets, redesign customer experiences, re-invent business processes, and other stuff that most seasoned innovators know truly shape the future."

Juan Miguel Galeas's curator insight, Today, 12:29 AM

#designthinking #disrupcion #gjc

"Remember ATLAS? That massive walking robot that DARPA is building with (the now Google-owned) Boston Dynamics?

Last time we saw it, it had two major flaws that made it ever-so-slightly less intimidating: it was loud as hell, and it needed a big, thick support cable to keep it powered and upright. Both of those issues have been fixed."

"In a recently published MITSloan Management Review, "Getting Value From Your Data Scientists," authors Jeanne Harris and Vijay Mehrotra do a number of things. One of these is to highlight the difference between a data scientist an an analyst, based on a survey. They use the "better programmers than most statisticians and better statisticians than most programmers" that I have heard before and serves as one possible description of a data scientist. "

The classic picture of the manufacturing industry is that of conveyor belt upon conveyor belt of identical, mass produced products on the inside and large chimneys belching smoke into the atmosphere on the outside.

But this year’s list of 30 Under 30 in Manufacturing shows that the present – and future – of manufacturing is something altogether different. It’s a world of custom products, 3D printing, nanoscale chemistry and a green outlook.
