Estados Unidos quiere videojuegos educativos en los colegios

Estados Unidos quiere videojuegos educativos en los colegios | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

Why The Maker Movement Matters

Why The Maker Movement Matters | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
I get caught up in things. Informercials. New gadgets. New shades of Sharpie. Every kid I’ve ever taught has said, “You say EVERYTHING is your “favorite thing.” It’s true. Life? It’s my favorite. I grew up, but my internal excitement level has stayed at a five year old’s level. So, I’ll just preface this post with that. I will also say that I’ve held off on writing this. Long enough to figure out if this whole “maker movement” was another “thing I love,” or more. It’s more. So much more.

We Need To Get The Internet Of Things Right

We Need To Get The Internet Of Things Right | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
It seems everything is connected to the Internet: socks, shoes, shirts, hats, glasses, appliances, beds, homes, drones, cars and even diapers. Yet, for the Internet of Things (IoT) to play a role in shaping our future, we need to get a few things right. The statement “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it” has never been more applicable. At the events and conferences I’ve attended this year, it’s clear that while everything is getting connected, few things are actually connected.

Some of you may recall the term “network of networks.” We are in real danger of making the same mistake again — only this time on a massive scale. With IoT, we are not taking full advantage of the Metcalfe effect where value increases exponentially as more things are connected. Instead, we are creating islands of technology.

Does gamification play Pavlov with learners?

Does gamification play Pavlov with learners? | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

"The massive success of online games led many to suggest that games and gamification, could be used to turbo-charge online learning. Take a little magic dust from gaming, sprinkle generously and we’ll all find it more fun, be more motivated and learn to love learning. But there’s pros and cons here, as it can both help and hinder learning. If gamification is simply scoring, bonuses and badges, the 21st century version of Pavlov's dogs, that would be a disappointment."

The-Neuroscience-of-Learning

"Learning is a critical organizational competency—so much so that Arie De Geus’ statement has become almost a truism today. Yet, most organizations do not effectively build this competency at an organizational or individual level. A study of the effectiveness of organizational training conducted by Cross (2002) concluded that only 10 to 20 percent of formal organizational training transfers to the job. On the other hand, informal learning—which accounts for at least 80 percent of organizational learning—and is the very essence of the learning that de Geus is referring to—happens in an ad hoc manner, without design or strategy"
