"Three-dimensional (3D) additive manufacturing techniques have been utilized to make 3D electrical components, such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors, as well as circuits and passive wireless sensors. Using the fused deposition modeling technology and a multiple-nozzle system with a printing resolution of 30 μm, 3D structures with both supporting and sacrificial structures are constructed. After removing the sacrificial materials, suspensions with silver particles are injected subsequently solidified to form metallic elements/interconnects."

Over 200 universities and colleges already offer 3D coursework in their curricula – covering aspects of not only 3D printing but also 3D scanning and design. To my mind, there is no question that 3D has reached, as Dartmouth’s Richard D’Aveni argues in a recent HBR article, a tipping point.

Ni tampoco la astronomía ni la física de partículas, dos de las ciencias de la más alta tecnología que han etado durante mucho tiempo a la vanguardia de la generación y procesamiento de datos.

No, la bestia alfa del bosque Big Data, dicen los expertos en PLoS Biology, resulta ser la genómica -una ciencia que no existía hace 15 años y sólo ahora está empezando a salir de los estudios de campo para generar más bytes electrónicos por año que ningún otro ámbito.

A team at University of Leeds have developed a new technology which uses a small device with low-powered lasers to measure blood glucose levels without penetrating the skin. It could give people a simpler, pain-free alternative to finger pricking. This device could transform the lives of millions of people living with diabetes.

Currently, many people with diabetes need to measure their blood glucose levels by pricking their fingers, squeezing drops of blood onto test strips, and processing the results with portable glucometers. The process can be uncomfortable, messy and often has to be repeated several times every day.

Engineers at the University of California-Berkeley have developed a so-called “smart cap” using 3D-printed plastic and containing embedded electronics. They recently demonstrated that the device can wirelessly monitor the freshness of milk, according to an article published Monday, July 20, 2015, in the online international journal Microsystems & Nanoengineering.

3D additive manufacturing (AM) techniques can make 3D resistors, capacitors, and inductors, along with circuits and passive wireless sensors. These structures are injected with silver particles and solidified to form metallic elements and interconnects.
