The library is not being used less, it's just user needs that are changing, says Janet Wilkinson – so don't forget the wifi

Carlos Fosca's insight:

Utilizar móviles inteligentes modifica el cerebro en tiempo real | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

How To Build One Brain-Boosting Habit In 2015 | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

We never stop learning. But unlike our school days, when our brain is constantly challenged and exercised to become better, our adult lives don't make time for this. In 2015, give your brain a boost. It's easier than you think and takes only a few minutes of your life each day

5 deep learning startups to follow in 2015 | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Deep learning talent is still in limited quantity, so don't be surprised if some of these startups get swept up before the end of next year.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

"From animal studies, there's reason to believe it (marijuana use) will affect parts of the brain and also the connections between them, and some of our preliminary studies suggest that is the case," said O'Donnell, a professor in the department of psychological and brain sciences.

In a previous study, the researchers found that connectivity in the brain was altered in cannabis users in a way that seemed to make the brain less efficient, he said."

Google is a Health Tech Enterprise: 7 Ventures to Watch Entering 2015

Google is a Health Tech Enterprise: 7 Ventures to Watch Entering 2015 | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Google’s first step into the health care industry can be marked by the emergence of Google Glass in 2013, when physicians found the device useful in clinical settings. That very year, Google also created a Life and Sciences division at Google X with the intention of creating major “moonshot” health care innovations.

According to the Wall Street Journal, more than one-third of Google’s venture capital in 2014 went to health care and life science companies, reflecting a 9 percent increase from the previous two years. And that momemtum doesn’t look to slow down in the next year.

“Barring some huge calamity, we’ll see more interesting things in life sciences in 2015,” said Bill Maris, head of Google Ventures in an interview with HIT Consultant.

A Cool New Theory Explains Why Red Wine Is So Damned Good For You

A Cool New Theory Explains Why Red Wine Is So Damned Good For You | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
The antioxidant resveratrol, which is found in red wine and other foods like nuts and soy, is known for its ability to decrease incidence of heart disease and other illnesses, leading some to call it the "elixir of youth." Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute now have an explanation for how it works.

Resveratrol (prounounced rez-veer-a-trole) is an organic compound found in grapes and other foods, but especially red wine. The effects of this chemical on human health have been disputed over the years, but it has been reported to extend lifespan, provide cardiovascular, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer effects. Scientists have argued for years about how it works, but a team from SRI now claims that resveratrol activates an evolutionary defence mechanism in human cells — one that in turn protects the integrity of our DNA.

An interesting opinion/ prediction about what is awaiting those who are going to make presentations next year.

Arjun Rajagopalan's comment, December 24, 10:50 PM
No question at all, we have come a long way from having Powerpoint as the king of the heap of presentation software. The variety of options on offer, and the range of capabilities are wide, diverse and individually tailored to the needs of presenters. The day of one-package-does-it-all is over. Microsoft themselves seem to have realised it and ar pitching Sway as the successor to Powerpoint. Interesting times ahead.

How to Become the Content Innovator In Your Organization

How to Become the Content Innovator In Your Organization | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
You’re likely well aware of the potential benefits of implementing an inclusive content marketing strategy. You’ve seen how it can transform a brand, and now you’re itching to put the channel to work for your organization.

However, your colleagues are likely less enthusiastic about this approach—if they’re aware of it at all. An inclusive content strategy often entails involvement across the entire organization and additional investment from up the ladder. Your coworkers may be resistant to extra responsibilities, and your higher-ups already have a budget that’s stretched thin.

There’s no denying that selling your organization on content will be tough, but the results make it well worth the effort. So, how do you champion this idea and convince your company to embrace content?
