The emergence of x and c MOOCs and pedagogy

The emergence of x and c MOOCs and pedagogy | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

The three sorts of MOOCs would serve different types of learners differently based on what the institutions would offer and what the learners might need and expect.

Carlos Fosca's insight:

Worth a read, but could be better organized (define "x" and "c" MOOCs early, for instance)

Roberto Ivan Ramirez's comment, September 17, 2013 2:38 PM
Alfredo Corell's curator insight, September 22, 2013 7:23 PM

What would be the future of MOOCs?

As discussed, the three sorts of MOOCs would serve different types of learners differently based on what the institutions would offer and what the learners might need and expect.

There are no clear crystal balls in accurately predicting what would emerge out of these winners, though it is for sure that the ultimate model of Higher Education would likely go with xMOOCs within the coming decade, as the demand for qualifications, formal teacher-based education is still the norm.

Exponential Organizations Are The Future Of Global Business And Innovation

Exponential Organizations Are The Future Of Global Business And Innovation | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

"Here’s a strange thought: Not very long ago, vertical integration was the cutting edge of global business. Indeed, well into the last century, the companies considered to be at the forefront of innovation were those resting atop the largest and most sprawling networks of operation.

Today’s business leaders stake their success on the opposite model of development. Increasingly, “agility” is the determining factor of market competitiveness, “leanness” its new underlying impetus. The fear of being outmaneuvered in the digital age has sent even cumbersome corporate giants like General Electric scrambling to adopt methodologies from the startup community." By Nabyl Charania

Working smarter with a 70:20:10 framework

Working smarter with a 70:20:10 framework | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
The 70:20:10 framework – where 70% of the learning is on the job, 20% from colleagues and 10% from formal courses and reading – is proving an effective tool to support the transition of learning and development to the new world of work. The workplace is becoming increasingly flexible and borderless – the traditional nine to five is rapidly phasing out. Learning now needs to be just as fluid as the mobile collaboration that employees have come to expect as part of their working life.
Organisations that are allowing employees to work smarter, whether at home, at work or during business travel, and on the device of their choice, are also exploring how to make learning content available anytime, anywhere and on any device. Mobile learning provides on-the-job relevance (the main part of the 70:20:10 approach), and performance support is provided at the point of need.

The Startup Illusion

The Startup Illusion | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

"Having an idea is easy; being able to make it into something profitable is what separates the failures and the success stories. As a student, you have the opportunity to take advantage of an enormous amount of collective experience to help you build your business — in the future.

In short, if you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, see through the veil. I am acutely aware of both the potential for failure and the chance of success, so heed my warning; the startup game is rigged. Hedge your bets and stay in school, but don’t ever stop working toward transforming your dreams of entrepreneurial success into a reality". By Noah Benesch

What does the digital economy mean for competitiveness?

What does the digital economy mean for competitiveness? | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
The world economy is currently in the midst of a shift from the internet economy to what can be best called the Digital Consumer Economy, writes Natarajan Chandrasekaran.
Carlos Fosca's insight:
