What is innovation? The current relationship between educators and technologies

What is innovation? The current relationship between educators and technologies | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it

Research has shown that teachers are very willing to try out new ideas and use new resources, but that over time they revert to a default mode of teaching and innovations are often discarded. Most of the innovations brought to us through suppliers have failed to change fundamentally teachers’ practice or values.

Love the final paragraph "To encourage innovation needs more than a set of iPads or a new style of teaching. To return to the initial definition of innovation - “the development of new values”, what is needed is a collaborative platform of new, shared values that place the learner firmly at the centre of the learning process, that embrace all forms of learning, and which will, eventually create a disruptive innovation to really get us all learning."

Innovation For Your Employees

Innovation For Your Employees | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
In the business environment, innovation is just as vital to a business, as it is in a similar way to human evolution. Without innovation, positive evolution can hardly take place. Though, even innovation has to take a direction and head to a certain something, or, spelled with other words, you have to know what to innovate. Otherwise, you risk going down on a path with a dead-end.

Boston Vs. San Francisco: Two Cultures of Innovation

Boston Vs. San Francisco: Two Cultures of Innovation | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Wade Roush
Let’s say you’re an ambitious, creative professional or entrepreneur working in the United States. You’re interested in technology, you have the luxury of mobility, and you want to be close to the center of things.
Carlos Fosca's insight:

"My own take, based on observing the personalities and operating styles of hundreds of active entrepreneurs in each location, is that both Boston and San Francisco boast incredibly strong innovation cultures. But they’re not the same, of course. Broadly speaking, their entrepreneurs draw energy and inspiration from different sources, and prioritize different goals. It’s a case of contrasting preferences or tendencies, like left-handedness or right-handedness. Neither is better, and each has its advantages." Wade Roush

Is managed innovation an oxymoron?

Is managed innovation an oxymoron? | Managing Technology and Talent for Learning & Innovation | Scoop.it
Carlos Fosca's insight:

"It is a popular belief that innovation is about finding the next big thing and it is the privilege of an elite few. With less than 5% of any large organization getting approvals and funding to pursue breakthrough innovations while the remaining 95% focus on ‘Business As Usual’, innovation efforts may become a dartboard game of ‘Hit-or-Miss’. How do we make sure everyone in the organization innovates  when so many people are new to the Cognizant way of working? Is there a structured way to energize and enable everyone to innovate? Could employees innovate inside-the-box? Could that lead to the next big thing? Could the outcome of such Innovations be big enough? Would innovations from the ground-up make a difference? "
