If Alzheimer's disease is to be treated in the future, it requires an early diagnosis, which is not yet possible.

"....Se trata de la «Hipótesis de la Higiene»,una teoría que los expertos llevan sosteniendo algunos años y que señala que un sistema inmunológico poco desarrollado es más proclive a que el cerebro presente una mayor inflamación asociada a la enfermedad del alzheimer. Las consecuencias estarían relacionadas sobre todo con la falta de generación de linfocitos del tipo T, células que llevan a cabo una importante función en la gestión del sistema inmunitario"....

"La evidencia científica daba hasta ahora por probado que los astrocitos, las células más abundantes del cerebro, tenían un papel clave en la inflamación del cerebro que provoca el alzhéimer, ya que, según creían, éstos se desplazaban hacia las placas de amiloide, cuya formación se asocia a la aparición de la enfermedad, y las devoraban. Ahora, investigadores de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) dan un vuelco a esta realidad utilizando modelos matemáticos, los mismos de los que se sirven para estudiar las galaxias."
